Smaller than "normal" carriers they were originally designed for convoy escort duty. But they also filled other rolls with transporting aircraft from the States to remote islands and locations to returning them back for overhaul. Wikipedia is a good place to start. Its not easy but the absence of side openings at the hull can reduce time work considerably. I have Gambier Bay plans consider to built in 1/144. Not a hard action to stick in but if you removed the little bits to replace it with PE they are a tiny bit too small and leave the plastic deck visible. This I have a bit more painting to go because of that. Then masked up the ship number . I then have a the metal cross braces a dark wash (these are the metal sections they use to belay the aircraft) then another overspray.
