Messerschmitt Bf-110 by Javlin - FINISHED - Revell/Dragon - 1/32 - PLASTIC

Yep, 91% denatured alcohol and a cotton swab has been used for generations to clean electronic equipment, like tape heads, mechanical movie projectors & photo engraving equipment, watch movements and the like...

It is also what is used in an anycubic wash/n/cure to clean led printed resin parts right after they come off the printer bed....

IPA, It's a very powerful cleaner in it's own right.....

Lesson learned, I know cause I learned it the same way brother... The scotchbrite pad broke the hard shell lacquer surface and allowed the alcohol to get under it.... But then again, it also leaves a residue free surface that makes the paint repair real easy.....

IPA is for serious cleaning when you have to remove hardened surface coverings or heavy deposits... That's why I use nothing but Future or Diamond Coat for decal placement over fully cured paint, then a final sealing coat in the sheen I want over the finished piece....

But I imagine the recovery is every bit as good as the original paint, no one will ever know....

If you’re not above mixing, this is a screenshot of Tamiya’s BF109. It gives their mix ratio to approximate the colour you may be looking for:

The XF series are acrylic, but there are equivalency charts to convert to their lacquer paints if you prefer.

Great job so far, can’t wait to see the end result.

No one will ever notice but that Nose decal is a beotch.I had to order some more paint Insignia Yellow I still cannot track down any RLM04!?!:default_wallbash:

Hey Jav, try here....

True North Paints... (check out the RLM04 gelb, looks to be a pretty good shade of it as well, they have a pretty complete line of Luftwaffe paint)

They would need to be thinned quite a bit for spraying, but they are probably the best enamels around, a little goes a long way.... It's what I use exclusively since the demise of Model Master's line.....

The finish line is not that far off no mail today so no yellow :wallbash: The canopy was a bit of a PIA probably more me than the manufacture I go outside the box/instructions and gets me in trouble but I resolved that issue.I have been touching up the nose decal with black tonight hence the yellow.I like it when you decorate the props just that little more touch. One pic of the port side of the fuse shows a decal that moved but also those ribs numbers not 9 like the 109 but 18.I tried making a RLM04 with what you gave Andy hence since I do not have the all the colors got to daRK.;)

Impressive model! As already said, good paint job for the camouflage. Glad that no sign of the accident with the paint you mentioned is visible.

Dan

P.S. Just one comment if I may, about the pathfinder antenna ring. Typically the ring didn't have a circular cross section, but it was more like a flat ribbon (where the wire coils were coiled next to each other). I make it with a soldered strip of photo-etch fret. I am making this comment only because of the size of the model it would be noticeable. Otherwise, it looks OK anyway.
