  • 2 weeks later...

Upper gun deck is planked !

A strange thing but I have white parts in the wood.

I have try to remove it by sanding and then 2 layers of tung oil on it but it don't work.

So I let it this way.

When all the fiddly stuff ( gratings , ladders , steering wheel and betings and more of that funny stuff ) are in place I think you don't see it anymore.

Otherwise remember that in de early century's also the wood was not the same  :D  :D  :D

( I don't know who told me that but I like it )

Between the planking I have make the false keel and frames of the 32 Ft Pinnace.....

Mobbsie told me that those Pinnace 's are kits of them own.

So for the price of one kit , you have 5 kits  :D  :D  ( 4 Pinnace's )

Enough talking, time for pictures !

Nice job Sjors!   I agree.  Once the deck furniture is all in place, those slight changes in color on the deck won't be noticeable. Normal deck weathering.  :)

Cheers

That was quick, my friend.  The color will settle in with time.  She seems to grow with every update --- and now 4 boats!!!

I personally like the natural look (changes in colour and grain) of the wood!

Just as the Big Guy upstairs intended.

Your deck looks great Sjors - as others have said, "natural" differences in timbers make it more realistic.

Thank you all for the nice words.....

It makes me feel that I have done it right ( also with the white spots on it  :D  :D  )

I can always tell every one that's her age.....I get also white hair......

Now i can go on with the other stuff......

I was thinking why not planked the poop deck and place it ?

I'm happy that I have not done it yet !

There should be 4 cannons under that deck !!!

Pffffffffffff

But again, thank you all and also the people who find that like button !

Yes, I'm still building....

Not to much because of other things that has to be done.

So it is time for a little update.

I have made the gratings, stairs, railings, timber heads, belfry and a few more of that little stuff.

I think it will come clear when you see the pictures.

I know that you will see dust but I have no time to clean ;)

If I clean it, 10 seconds later you will see dust again......

Enough talking, time for pictures !

Thanks all,

@ John,

I wish I have holiday's but nope !

Still at work and in my spare free time I can do a little.......

@ Bob,

You are right.

The little stuff is fun to do and you see her growing....

And the dust ?

It just happened ! :D  :D

There are a few more things to do on the deck like the railing around the hatches of the stairs and the cannons......

Rigging again !

The next update can take a while.......

And thanks George, Tim, Augie and Mobbsie.

@ Augie,

I forget to show you the curved railing......

I shall make a picture of that tomorrow for you  :D  :D  :D  :D

And also thanks who push the like button !
