The detail is excellent, shame most of it gets covered up, but that's model building!

Nice photos of Cornwall. I used to sail a 19' Hunter out of Carrick Roads down there. Very happy memories (well, apart from the day we got caught in a sea fog and couldn't remember which way was France)

We love Cornwall. It's a very pretty place and as our son went to Uni and now lives in Falmouth we've got the excuse to go fairly often. Lucky us!

James.

The NMM branch in Falmouth is nice to visit.  I was there in 1918 and was interested to see the Titanic Lifeboat replica recently built in their shop.

Your B25 model reminds me of the book Catch 22.  The guys in the book were flying B25’s from a base in Italy and the Catch22 referred to some crazy ( I don’t remember the details) rule #22 that ensured that they could never fly the required missions to go home.

My son recently inherited a scrapbook from someone in his wife’s family who flew in a B25 squadron based in Italy.  It is remarkable as it includes bomb aerial photos and maps for each mission flown.  He really needs to find someone knowledgeable to evaluate it.

That scrapbook sounds like a fascinating piece of history. Typically we've been to Falmouth a few times but haven't got round to visiting the museum yet. Maybe on the next visit.

James.

You were there in 1918?   I'm hoping that's a typo as never thought you were that old.  LOL

As far as Catch 22 fors, here the Wikipedia logic....  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch-22_(logic)  As I recall, it existed in Vietnam and continues even today.

Oooh, it's fiddly for my fat fingers! Adding the pipe work to the engines.

And in other news the B-24's partner in the museum has arrived.

Slow and steady progress.

There are 72 parts per engine. You can't fault the detail. And that's before you put the exhaust stacks on.

If the rest of the kit has this much to it though, I'll finish sometime around Xmas....2026! 😁

Hi all,

So I've finished the engines, well almost, still the exhausts to add to the rear of them although I don't think they will be visible at all.

I'm pretty pleased with these though.

Shame that not too much is visible when built up... Dry fit test to see what they will look like reveals not much!

I've been having a play with mixing colours and trying some pre shading for the first time in the cockpit. I'm trying to get somewhere close to this..

Screenshot_20240515_123850_Chrome.thumb.jpg.7503cdc7af6fe8656b6747cc6cba0c1d.jpgScreenshot_20240515_123845_Chrome.thumb.jpg.8911f847c88b6f3987aeb5b14ff99fd1.jpg

First I built it up and then primed it with Vallejo Black

20240515_100502.thumb.jpg.a9e77e2af865ea8b30de1c14fe11496a.jpg

20240515_111214.thumb.jpg.333898c866b77c58c71eecdfe307ad80.jpg

Then fairly heavily pre-shaded with white, all paints are Vallejo Air range by the way.

20240515_114217.thumb.jpg.3e70ce882b699e25dfad843348889171.jpg20240515_114247.thumb.jpg.a43888434895e1e533bc61cdd117b6a4.jpg

Then I mixed a combination of olive green, BS dark green, black, white and yellow until I thought it was close and then thinned to about 50%. Then applied 3 coats gradually.

20240515_122253.thumb.jpg.43b04488bb3f7d08ca0e83c39487282f.jpg20240515_123654.thumb.jpg.f33b5d986c93f16010d805fe58af621b.jpg20240515_123719.thumb.jpg.c4619aa22d6e30734c4116c055d488e4.jpg

I'll let that dry now and see how it looks. Then I'll hand paint the rest and do some light weathering. As it's going to be in a museum it shouldn't look too shabby I'm thinking.

I bought that same ZM Fw a month ago. Beautiful kit.

Thanks for the comments CDW.

The ZM Fw does look great. There's also an interesting blog on their website, in 4 parts, with building tips I've had a look at. Don't know if you've seen it.

I saw the model advertised in a magazine and couldn't resist. Not due here for a couple of months so the timing should be great for me.

Thanks for posting that! No, I had not seen that yet.

Currently on a motorbike weekend in the south of England with some mates and today some of us visited the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovil. Actually very good with lots of interesting planes and helicopters...

And they had a Corsair with I took quite a few photos of, hopefully useful when I build mine. Recommended visit if you're ever in the vicinity.

Seeing the riders in short sleeves, I take it the weather is warm this time of year in your country, James. Here in the USA, in my home state of Florida, it's outright hot. Work too many hours in this heat, dehydration and a sun stroke could result.

A great museum and some beautiful bikes in your photos.

It's late teens/early 20's this weekend here in the south of England CDW, positively balmy for us Brits. That was yesterday though.. Today riding to and from the museum was in heavy rain and thunderstorms. A mixed weekend weather wise. The museum was fantastic and there are some lovely bikes here. We all meet up twice a year for a long weekend, it's always a great trip whatever the weather.

Cheers,

James.
