Hello Kevin,

It looks like the log entry "misfired."  For some reason a previous entry of mine repeated itself for which I apologize.  Don't know why it happened.  Anyhow, just wanted to say hello and mention that I always pin my spars to the mast; much easier that way.

Your work is bringing back much memories and it seems like only yesterday that we were working at the same time on HMSV along  with David, Shipyard Sid.  I miss those times and I also miss David.  Please say hello to him for me.

Best,

Jerry

i must admit im far happier when playing with wooden kits, i dont post as much wjen working with other materials yes they were quite a few off us doing the same kit, dont forget Gil Middletons build, im sure David will see your post as he occasionally drops by, takes a front seat eats all my popcorn and leaves the rubbish on the floor,

you can find him and his latest build here

Good evening everyone

i had intended to achieve more by this time (its not a race) but happy as all the yards are in place, the Mizzen ones are finished just awaiting the fittings if rigging bits, the main and fore are in different stages of completion

Kevin, love your log.  Very nice work!

Just out of curiosity - in the picture you posted above, for the octagonal section of the yards, did you use planking strips?  Looks really great!

Greetings Kevin

Yep  well done with the spars, looks like they will soon be done. And onto the running rigging !!! The best bit.   Don’t forget the rigging gets in the way of all the coils you are going to fit around the deck.  That sail is to big. Keep up the good work . Regards DAVID

Leech lines, if sails are not set, were the lines just knotted at the block to prevent the line pulling back through

i have made quite a bit of progress on the build in the last week, the fore yard is not finished with just a few lines to find homes for and then the fitting is the stun booms

these are now fitted,

more lines being secured this time to the channel and secured inside the bulkhead

although still a lot of long loose ends most of the fitted fitted so far are now secured, i dont want to cut them just yet in case i have a need to remove them

So far into the build, just as I am getting very tight for space, and today I realized I have not fitted any truss pendants or parrals to any of the spars, %^%*%%%

i was gutted when i found out, as i had pinned all the yards to keep them in position, i realised when i was putting the leech lines in and thought, what stops the real spars from moving forward

it is doable and i have now completed 2 of the 3 on the fore mast,

But i am definitely suffering from not sticking to a plan and forgetting where i was over such a long term build,

well i completed the fore mast lower yard truss pendants, and feel i have got away with it,

deck blocks also forgotten, but dont appear on the plans anyway

rigging  them lines into position

IMG_3654.thumb.JPG.068de2b67004966737306a409a67b815.JPG

not the best phot but the yard is quite tight against the mastIMG_3658.thumb.JPG.b5177abac596fd09ce6883ac7fa3bf94.JPG

a large amount of lines have now been secured into position and secured, so looks a lot tidier,
