Hi Nenad! I really do like your final choice in colouring and your Cutty Sark sure looks great in your latest photos! I hope you don't get a sore wrist from having to turn them 1000 times each though Best wishes to Hothead and I hope he is feeling better soon

Perhaps the word you are looking for in English is "Silhouette" which means showing something dark against a light background? It is a great effect and really shows the rigging and lines and I can almost picture your Vasa at dusk or dawn just as the skies are getting light. I love the shot! Your ship really is amazing

I bet you spent more than you intended! Around $50? Although it is cheating going at night so you don't have to buy a sausage haha. I am sure you will make the right decision on your colouring. If I had to choose though, (from reading every Bounty Launch log I could find) I do agree with you and just a smidge lighter might be what you are after and I am guessing the 8:3 ratio might do the trick. But please remember that computer screens display things differently so you are the best judge of all!

Hi Grant, Your cunning plan looks perfect and what a great solution! I wonder what faces you pulled when the first one disintegrated though haha.

Have a safe trip Jack and I can't wait to see your continued progress when you get back! ( I really like what you have done with the new planks )

Nice pun No, I don't think you went too far with the weathering but I am only guessing sorry. I know from your previous photos the colours are quite different in normal light so it is a little hard to tell. But the contrasts between colours do not look too strong or over powering. In other words: It looks great!

Your work is just incredible Vivian and such an inspiration to everyone! I am amazed at the accuracy and level of detail of what you are doing, but it is even more amazing when I see how well you have made it. I didn't even think for a moment that the poster hanging on the wall would have real words, let alone something that really would have been there! You keep making me want to try harder myself Thank you!

Hi Max, Thank you for the extra pictures. Your Half Moon really IS a masterpiece and looks just incredible. Your photography allows us to see her in all her beauty and I really do hope you are very proud. I don't blame you for wanting to enjoy outside with your furry friends, but I can't wait to see your next building adventure too!

Hi Ollie, I can't be too much help with the masts sorry but had to say that your gun ports look incredible. I didn't really understand why you were going to the trouble of scratch building them but I certainly do now. Great job! And good luck with your mast decision

Your joins are perfect, the strakes are perfect and each step just looks exactly right! It really is coming along beautifully (and thank you for pointing out how the stealers are changing)

A big hello from a fellow "glue remover and redoer" What a great recovery you have made and I hope you are proud of how your Bounty Launch is looking now? I think it looks great! Thank you for all of the pics and information. I really am amazed at the amount of breakage but from what I read it is expected and planned for.

Hi Mike, I haven't experienced planking or warping yet myself so I really haven't been able to offer any help or advice to your dilemmas. BUT, I do have to agree that your decking looks fantastic! I tried the pencil and white glue method myself but yours looks so much better!

Hi Mike! I know what you mean about how bad it feels when you break something, or find out you did it wrong. However I also know how wonderful you feel when you fix it or make it even better! You can do it! I hope you have more of those wonderful feelings at success than the bad ones of things not working out. Have fun!

"Art Tape"?
Bindy replied to SGraham's topic in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck
Hi there Steve, I ran into a little trouble painting my ship, even using the most expensive masking tape I could buy at the hardware store. It was recommended (and endorsed by a few others) that I use Tamiya Masking Tape which may be a little dearer but sounds like it works really well. My roll hasn't arrived yet so I can't confirm it but I really trust these guys! I hope that is some help to you too! Bindy -
Hahaha yes I DO read Nenad! You know me far too well for my own good haha. I really do understand your challenges in describing things (particularly colours) when English is not your native language but you do a fantastic job and your posts always make sense This is very clever when you consider Politicians don't make any sense at all in any language, even their own haha

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
