Wow Mike, That looks just fantastic! Great job! I really did like your planking (even after reading of your trials and tribulations) but the finished hull just looks so special!
-
Just wow Grant! The "fingernail shot" really puts it all into perspective. Even at such a tiny scale your accuracy and level of detail is amazing! I agree with the others, even your pinnace deserves a case of it's own!

ancre LE BONHOMME RICHARD by Jeronimo - FINISHED
Bindy replied to Jeronimo's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1751 - 1800
Hello Karl, I know I am just repeating what everyone else says, but I also don't think it can be said enough. Just incredible work, perfect colours, and equally good photography so that we can enjoy it properly. You really are such an inspiration!- 662 replies

Hi Frank, Thank you for the photos and explanation of what you are doing with your "spilling". I really like the idea with the strings and tape, but also the tape and markings so you can see how the planks will curve and look before you actually do it (and then have to undo it hahaha) I can't wait to see your "Alert" with more planks!

Wow JesseLee! You are a great modeller, but not so good at following Doctor's orders I think Your fixing/improving on the parts is amazing, but even more impressive considering the challenges you are under at the best of times, let alone after surgery!!! I particularly like the ingenious little bell haha. But I do echo your other friends here and ask that you please don't do too much and let yourself heal as much possible. Doctor's do know best!! Besides, we would hate to lose you for longer

Naww ty Jack! I have no doubt you would be an amazing people Photographer as well and have to admit I went through your whole gallery looking for you capturing the spark and soul and life and stories of people in a single shot (which I think you would to easily with your talent). Sorry but my avatars are just cropped bits out of mostly iPhone pictures taken by my partner's daughter haha. She takes some nice photos, but lots and lots and lots are not hahaha

Wow, what a difference! From something worth a rubbish bin, to something that should be treasured for years to come. I am glad it was appreciated (as I am sure it will be by anyone who sees it) but I am not too surprised that someone who gives and does as much as you do, was flattered and happy with the "bonus" of that size

Hi Ulises Victoria, Thank you for the photos and update. The perspective really let's me see what you mean, and the details too but I love the way you have tested the different finishes and treatments and that is a great lesson for me! The bit about slowing down and not rushing things might be a good lesson for me too haha. Nah, who am I kidding? haha

Hi there JesseLee, Super best wishes for your surgery. I know you will have a tough for weeks ahead of you (after more than your fair share of tough ones in the past weeks/months) but I believe with all my heart that it will be worth it and your daily life will be more enjoyable after you have healed If you are feeling down during the recovery, please log on to MSW and seeing your friends will surely lift your spirits! Best wishes!

Excuse me, but would you mind cancelling your house move and continue building your Bounty Launch? I think it is just a little selfish of you considering I was enjoying reading your log so much but I guess I can be patient if you think your whole life is more important than entertaining me ... (All the best with your move!)

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
