Wow, that is one big model! How long is she? I used ammonia to clean up a model once and it worked fairly good, although, it had a glossy finish. Maybe try on a spot that won't be seen and see how it works. Spray Nine is also a real good cleaner, which maybe be better than ammonia. Flat finishes are hard to clean so be real careful. I just read your title and seen 2.5 m. long

Looks great. I like your ideas with the oar sweeps and scuppers, I really don't like putting holes through the hull, especially one as good looking as yours

Looks a little shiny, but I'm sure that is just the lighting and the picture, I like it. I also quite admire your shelving unit

Merchen, That is truly remarkable, to come visit and watch you create these beautiful works of art would be inspiring. The only problem would be is getting me to leave . What part of Germany do you live? Take Care and please keep posting

Is that $20 U.S.? Put me on the top of your order list. Will it do edge bending?

Thanks E.J., I have always been a big fan of the natural look and usually only use paints and stains for highlights only. So I am still not sure what I was thinking when I applied the stain and two coats of poly only to remove it later. Lesson learned.

Mike is right in what he has mentioned to you, if tapering the plank does not close the gap leave the tapered plank lie naturally and use a stealer to fill the remaining space. It is all still going to work, not to worry there, we are not criticising only trying to help. Please do not take anything the wrong way

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
