Kees, I want one too, said the child in me!! Gawd, some very beautiful tripplet models you have created. The rigging, yes, I can imagine you may find some difficulty with it, but you will succeed, knowing you. I really do love the "night view". The clear light around the cabin and the darkness all around ... stunning. Those two new owners should be very, very pleased with their respective model!!

You made it! an update even a small one is worth the waiting Jesse. Good to see her with the carronades secured. Very sorry you didn't get any better, but the contrary. As ever, you and your family are in my thoughts. Try to keep your spirits up Looking forward to a future update. Cheers

You can't keep off the charts entirely, but you can try at least. I don't do it for work, but I hate the loss of privacy, especially without my conscent. I won't tell mate

I see you've converted to initials ... You've outdone yourself again. You keep getting better every time I see an update. Great painting. Cheers

Chris, I know, I'm still pondering on how to continue with the Dolphyn I'm building. Someway I can't decide what to do with her. That's why there are so many people building multiple models ... I don't mind, I'll just have to wait Cheers Carl

Nearly half way Nice work on the tripplets. quite a forest ready for painting. When you look at the difference between Yamato and Musahsi on AA guns ... they've put so much more on her during that last year. Alone the 24 tripple AA gun turrets, which I do not have ... Well done. Look forard to your paiint results Cheers

Magnificent job, Chris. Where are those daisy cutters? Are you going to add the mast and paddles?

As far as I understood, that is neither Yamato, nor Musashi, it's more about the green stuff ... so those shalll be bow thrusters

Greg, You need sometin' to keep up such a hughe investment ... (sorry Patrick, I couldn't resist ... I'll retreat quietly into my little corner and shut up)
-
You could enlarge a few, make them more spacious as one would expect on a yacht this size (and probably value), and the remaining smaller ones change into walk in closets, and/or hidden compartments for illegal traffic
-
She is hughe, Nils, but oh so graceful. A magnificent build so far ... breathtaking

The breaks are a nice part of the building. It let's you ponder on your progress and what to do next. It is so easy to forget something, as you need to switch between the base build (plastic building instructions) and the PE one. It is so easy to overlook a part from a certain item. Besides that, these model ship kits consist of so many sub builds ... it's good to take a step back, and look what you are doing before gluing it all together. You can still do these kits Denis. Alternate between wood and plastic or do both, as you would probably ... correction, would most certainly do.
-
Congrats, Denis, with the youngest. It's what usually happens, when you go to a store and you need something urgently ... lucky they had an alternative

Sorry to hear about the illness, hope it passes quickly, and you can spend some more time at your bench. The image with the open rear deck certainly appeals to me more than the enclosed one. I'm looking forward to your progress. With regards to your (I) beams e.a. you do not need a foundry, get some brass sheet and strips and make your own ... smelting makes such a mess ... -
PE ... now let me think ... that's the class where you got all sweaty and got that superior mail smell about you ... loved it ... frustrating from time to time ... maybe that's why I bought two detail update sets ... a gluton for punishment ... or as my aikido teacher said: No pain, no gain! The gain is still way of, but the screwing pain I've had in my eyes, and head are promising a lot of the previous ... Now I wonder since the visor I use alleviates the pain, what will happen to the gain ... Thanks lads, could do with a break this build asks for some serious personal endurance
-
Scott, thanks for the good word ... such posts really motivate to go on ... although I keep nagging about PE, it is a challenge to get it right ... just be in the right mindset, and get a visor ... saves your eyes, and prevents your brain (which I fortunately lack) turn to mush.

Thought you might like it I've been browsing through it the first few evenings, i.e. before starting to re-read it. I took of some brass of the main (front) tower, as it got stuck on crooked, as you say, sloppy is lazy ... good decision

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
