    When I look at the differences it does look minimal, but in real size it must be quite big. It is nice to see that even at this scale you establish such a visible difference, and such crisp details!!! Wunderbar! Cheers

    Nils, Nice progress on the boats. I like the way you solved the klinker planking. For a canvas like meterial, you could glue a single layer of a paper handkerchief on the foil with a spray glue, another option, though more expensive) is to use a real handkerchief ... the material is quite thin and the weave fine enough to give you a somewhat rugged canvas resemblance

    Even if you took a long time to get something out of the shipyard, it does look really good, Mick. Stove turned out rather nice, despite of the burn stains from the apprentice cook The beams for the main deck turn out real spiffy Good to see you making dust again Cheers mate

    Mike, I hammered strips of lead (the real deal) into blocks, quite straight forward, and put them in a ziplock bag, as suggested by Don. As I had a compartment like part at the stern, it was easy, but you could use self adhesive velcro to sitck the bag to the hull ...

    Besides having been a major nuisance to myself - debugging a program for bugs all week long - I have managed to accomplish some things on a more happy note. Sparkling PE From parts to the full fledged thing a ma jig ... nearly forgot, one of the two airplane catapults ... (why didn't they use those for boats, much faster launching!) Had a lovely Dutch sky Yesterday (just around the corner ...)

    That's the problem with overclocking ... You have better weather than we do, for we are having nightfrost every day! Still ... no time at all for the Utrecht ? What a pitty ... we'll just have to sit it out ...

    Can't you put some counter weights in it. I know with the Smit Rotterdam, and the Smit Nederland we had to add some lead. In the Nederland it was, fortunately, at the stern, which was easy to reach. You do have a bit of leeway with regards to the waterline. As a tug burnes more diesel, it rises ... so if it gets to low, it's fully bunkered, just don't let it sink

    Tires should be above the waterline Mike, at least that's how the tugs in Rotterdam "wear" them. Nomaly the are hung at the widest section of the hull (vertically seen that is) but your hull is pretty straight

    Pat Thought you might recognise it ... yours is pink, right Hey Dennis, The physio does her best, but what can you do to an old back ... It's slow, but there is movement ... not as fast as yours ... Had a redodelidumdum. Ripped off the brass davits, forgot the piece in which they turn ... a little strip of metal with two holes one at the top, and the other ... at the bottom :sigh: ... made the scutter pipes for the "boat deck", more something like a corridor, and still busy on the first catapult .... just a few more fiddly bits, you know 0.5 x 2 mm ... I'm getting the hang of this PE. When I've finished I call myself apprentice Don't knoiw how the other blokes seem to manage with the stuff ... magicians, all of them!!! Anyone who says it's just plastic is so wrong ... the hardest building I've ever done ... rather replace the fuel pomp on a lefthand drive BLMC Mini Cooper. Pictures will foloow ... (not from the Mini )

    You're in the wire I see. Like the look of the rigging, at least the way it is developing. It is hard to figure out, and to keep it uncluttered at the same time.

    Probably a bit more "modern", but you might find it useful, in this case no rat lines are used, but wooden bars.

    No, I didn't stop, just had a serious back problem, a software release which didn't release yet, and heaps of other excuses. I've been working - on and off - on the hull, did some PE here, and some PE there. Got a third hand from MM (it's eye candy!!!) dropped something on the funnel which the funnel didn't like so I had the first repairs ... probably more to come ... anyways lads (any lasses?) without further a do some more eye food Michael Mott's hand (he is currently working with a single one I presume ...?) A side ladder (pilot's ladder?), and davits. These look so much better than the plastic junk from the kit and for a change I picked p sme PE, and started on the first catapult, parts and initial fases Still a lot more work to do. As I wrote on Greg's topic, it seems that the old tool has far less, or not such good detail on the plastic, as the new tool. Have quite a number of sheets left!!! Cheers

    Nice progress, Greg. I didn't realise they added, besides the single one's, tripple AA guns on the rear hanger deck. It's a wonder they could still get those planes out and of the ship. They really made the Yamato a floating gun platform in 1945, awesome firepower(!) I was planning to add a plane in the hanger too, now it will seem like I'm a copy cat, darn. Will have to figure something out ... Great work on the weathering of that aft deck too. You are really becoming a pro at it. For me .. still more PE to go, plenty of sheets left ... it seems the new tool has far better details than the old one considering the quantity of PE I've got ...
