  1. Vivian, Any image will do! I'm thrilled to see you back here, which is far more important!
  2. Nenad, Bilges of woodenships, war or commercial never smelled ... pleasant. However, if you stay in that odor long enough, you won't smell it anymore ...
  3. You are sharp today, Robin. Took your daily shot did you Yet, I am curious as to how it actually will turn out
  4. in short .... cheat ... :D BUT he will do it well, nearly invisible, which is also very important!!!
  5. OC, I don't get this ... what are pips? I only know it as those things in grapes, fret, another one which can be anything not related to building a ship or ship's items according to dictionaries
  6. ERROR ... you just told us ... so everytime I look at that little bireme of yours ... I can't stop thinking, those ropes ... no with that he cheated ... no can do
  7. Ever been looking for model wood in Rotterdam ... it's not as easy as it used to be ... quite a few modelshops are gone ... long live the shop killer ... internet ... but it has it's own advantages ... you can enjoy your build much longer Bob Couldn't you start with what you've got on one side ... at least you will have something to do whilst you wait for the missing pieces Wouldn't want you to go cold turkey
  8. Nice solution Jesse, I wouldn't have thought of it (don't have guitar string, but could have use the cable for a bicyle's handbrakes come to think of it). And another person helped out ... you are an amazing person, with such an open heart, I feel privileged to get to know you for as far that is possible on a forum
  9. Difference ... that was your work phone. I don't accept a mobile from work, my private time is mine. They can stick it where the monkey sticks his nuts.
  10. Nikons are pretty good. I bought my Canon DSLR when that technology was still quite new, so I stuck with it, since it isn't a bad camera (actually very good), and I like the size. Those pocket things never feel trustworthy if you get my drift. The coolpix I bought for the quick snapshots. I don't use my smartphone a lot for pictures ... it's a phone, that's the primary use for me, I'm not interested in other uses for it. To be honest, the frickin thing is mostly in my backpack with me laptop, people complain they can't get hold of me ... not my problem
  11. Close ups are very good ... my coolpix 3600 doesn't give me that quality, I still ponder on changing my Canon EOS 400D for a higher end Canon, haven't decided yet ... so many things I want ... Should have been born a biljionair Take care, most close ups don't focus because we keep the camera to close
  12. Smooth move with the table saw, Robin. You must secure the old X-mas list!!! Lovely work too
  13. and you thought, gawd I'm good!!! GET ME OUTTA Y"UR HEAD!!! When you want to use paint, in such cases enamels are the better choice So what's funny about these portholes matey
  14. You could always have a go at those frames with your deathstar ... very neat cut so to say Just burn those b**** off ...(sorry I'll go back to my corner)
  15. OC, You can't win em all. I mean, we have to live with our own shortcomings and as we grow older, the number of those increase If you hit yourself on your eye with a spanner (like I did), you see even less for a while ... I think Robin has the gist, give your eyes some rest. Sometimes we want to much to fast. That fiddly work needs time, I found that out on the Fokker Dr 1. Every day a bit. I think I would have finished it in three days when I was younger, now it took me most of a month. Will be fun when I start on that Yamato class battleship with all the PE ... I can feel my eyes already Perhaps a small side project to change. I must say the wood builds are far less tiring for the eyes than the plastic kits with those eye wrecking Detail Up sets ... You're still doing a great job!! Cheers mate
  16. The silence was deaffening ... good to see you're still up and mostly running. Take your time, good to know you're still around
  17. Frank, That is some grand brass work you show us there, and some very practical jigs ... thanks for sharing One question though, when you stain the slightly burned wood won't the burn show through the stain? Cheers P.s. I'm following your build from the beginning, and I love how you do it, very clean and crisp a real treat
  18. Nice collection OC. Love the colours in the top one. Bragging with your size again ??? I don't know if drilling undiluted acrylic will work, you might drill it out entirely caused by the heat from the rotating drill bit making it loose it's hold on the plastic or simply by pushing it out. To be able to re-drill you need some body, I would have glued styrene in to fill the hole ... my two pennies
