  1. Mobbsie, Great honour to have her on display there. WIll she find a permanent 'base' there? The latter would be marvelous.
  2. Nice progress, 12 guns ... you shall overcome that hurdle in time. Mean while your rigging advances nicely
  3. Gaetan, Often a blue or very bright green background - i.e. a contrasting colour - is used for those pictures, and multiple lamps/light sources to avoid shades, The digital image is manipulated with software replacing the contrast colour by white. Marvelous details, which you seem to produce always Joyeux Noël a vous et votre famille
  4. Michael, What material did you make them from. It looks like aluminium, but I can hardly imagine that will stand the tooth of time considering the job it is expected to do. You and you family, have a marvelous Xmas and a healthy and happy new year
  5. Looks promising. I keep my reservations for your tool, as I'm a sucker for steaming planks ... Merry XMas and best whishes for next year
  6. A bit crude but yiou'll probably make do with it Ah, that's some marvelous detail on that scale Piet. I like your midnight-wake-up-ideas. Maby Gwen has a point in writing things down, but that removes all the charm and loving frustration when you try to gymnasticise/stretch your brain muscle The result does look great. Happy Holidays to you and Gwen or Prettige Kerstdagen en een Voorspoedig Nieuwjaar
  7. Piet, Gwen is right, some unique brass work. She has a good eye for detail! It's true, during that age the Dutch were lean, mean fighting machines. However, nowadays they could use the wider seat ... Since I stopped smoking I can use one too
  8. Nah, you would neither save on blades nor on wood. The blades would wear faster as the hardened teeth would be last to touch wood, and the wood would be unusable due to the ugly grooves and most probably a wobbly cutting stroke ...
  9. That is some very fine, and well executed work Ed. You will need some patience to finish that part of the stern.
  10. Michael, That is some fine metalwork. I cannot even see the handle has been bent. Amazing job
  11. Piet, Those rowers must have some hughe a.......... (zitoppervlak) Nevertheless, again some fine details
  12. Mark, Looking marvelous. A milestone is always good to reflect upon. Choose the wood which makes you feel at ease with, and gives you the right feeling
  13. I have to join in/agree with the two former posts. I'd like to add that it is fun to watch the progress and every time I'm looking forward to your next 'surprise posting'. It's wonderful to see it/them grow
  14. Ah your sloppyness, As long as it is only the first - invisible - layer, it doesn't matter that much. You will be mounting another beautiful layer of planks and probably copper.
  15. Piet, Jep, I was afraid everything would work according to its specs ... happy hollidays to you and Gwen, and best whishes for the new year
  16. Kp, I agree with Sam entirely, and like his idea for the mainguns. That would make it even more realistic
  17. Remco, maybe this page from 'The Arming and Fitting of ...' (jet again)m prove useful
  18. If the earphone cable's wires aren't thin enough, you might give internet cat5 cable (or thread used to make flies for fly-fishing) a try. I mised the 'paint job' remark to, but it's all in the eyes of the beholder ...
  19. Michael, Incredible work again. You keep on amasing your crowd. I'll stick to wind propulsion or a ready to use (aka bought) engine. You are way, way, way out (above ..) of my leage
