It’s coming along very nicely David! I’ve no doubt you’ll get there with the sails.

Just finished reviewing your post and had to go get a towel. Had to dry the sea spray off my face. Wow!

That's Beautiful!!! -
For what it's worth I have two Chris Craft models I built over the last two years that I'm now just getting around to completing the drive trains and electronics on. I preferred to stay focused on the builds before getting to this final phase. Personal preference for me and seems to be working out just fine.

I like your call on not attaching the keel yet. Why work around an obstacle that’s not yet necessary? Sure enjoying watching your progress.

Pulling up a chair now to enjoy your progress. I have the MS version teed up for my next build. Thanks for sharing!

I can relate to the parts "pinging off into the ether. Inevitably, when doing a repeated delicate process, i.e. installing small pins yesterday, a few seem to always want to take off on their own. Murphy's Law, gremlins or ham hands...I don't know. Does seem to be a part of the modeler's condition. Sure enjoying your build though!

I purchased these miniature planes and they just arrived yesterday. Thank you for the tip on the small cardboard squares!!! I totally missed that little detail and had thrown them out. They now have been safely rescued from the trash. Looking forward to making use of them. -
Very nice Janelle! If you get a chance, check out Tom Lauria on YouTube. He is a master model builder and has a series of videos on how to build a whaleboat from scratch. I learned a lot watching them.

Welcome from beautiful West Michigan. A balmy 31 degrees here today with a gentle 30 knot wind blowing northwest off Lake Michigan. Perfect ship modeling weather. Glad you’re here!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
