Karl, your model is really a reference for me and perhaps for other model builders. The accuracy in every detail of your model is absolut extraordinary. I like sitting in front of my monitor and watch the deatils.

Rusty, very nice joints. It's looking really good. You are building a lot of section models. The dark site of ship modelling is beautyful, isn't it?

I followed your log on MSW 1.0 but now I am really surprised. I didn't realize that the scale of your model was 1/96. It's looking really good.

Info on Dusek ship models ?
AnobiumPunctatum replied to Canada Steve's topic in Wood ship model kits
Here's a link to their home page. I have the kit of the cog and must say it's really nice. I wrote a review of the kit for Modellmarine.de. Perhaps you get an impression of what you will get, if you buy a kit. -

Alex, thanks for the info. your model and the cog, which was found in Bremerhaven (here are some pictures I made some years ago) are not of the same type. As mentioned earlier your model is not a real cog. It's more like a holk, which was the type that was used after the cog. As far as I know these ships were kraweel planked. But I think your solution looks really interesting and perhaps ...

Erik, don't reduce your work. She is looking really good. I will be more than happy if I can reach nearly your level for my build.

Thanks for the info, Toni I use pear for the framing and have some pieces of different stock. I think this will make a light visible contrast.

Tony, has it a reason that you do not show all filling pieces at the lower hull? I am thinking what I shoul show and what not. If I remember right, Greg doesn't show any filling piece.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
