  1. Hey guys. I'm still here. I have been tying blocks, waxing thread, You know the boring stuff. Nothing really noteworthy of a pic post. But yes. The work continues.
  2. Welcome and all the best. Being at a young age has its perks, Eyesight, hearing etc. So make the most of it! Plenty of ships out there awaiting you. Take the advice on here but please share yours too. Happy sailing.
  3. I use a wood glue called tightbond. It has all of the properties of wood glue but it sticks real fast. Faster than your normal carpenters Wood glue. It helps alot.
  4. Can't say I have ever seen a Mamoli cross section build on here. Your doing a great job. Love the lots of detail so well done and placed. Good work
  5. Hmmmmm looks to me like a good start. That's an interesting building board you have. Best of luck!
  6. Hey Anton. Hopefully the decision making is going well. And the carved lions heads coming along great. Things have certainly slowed down on my Friesland. But still plodding along.
  7. If you hate tying hundreds of knots you can always try how I do it. No knots. Just 50:50 white glue. It's fast. Here is some pics off my still in construction Friesland.
  8. Hey Mich. I like defined lines on my deck planks so I do all sides. The photo is abit blurry but this is the result of all sides of the planks done. When I color, I don't press too hard. Just enough to get a good shade on the edges.
  9. I use the pencil method as described and with great results just luke Russ. Instead of doing each plank individualy, I clamp 10 or so together and color all of the sides. Alot quicker.
  10. Looking good. Be careful of the white metal gunport frames as they stick out alot. I spent forever sanding them down to accept the second planking. on my Mamoli build.
  11. All the best! Of all the tools you already have, The best tool when used correctly is patience. But I'm sure you well and truly understand that one. I have not myself built a POF but there are certainly a few on here that have. I see the Syren is quite popular. Welcome aboard.
  12. Well its been almost two weeks away from my most loved Friesland. Been missing it. Have just received word our job is complete here in Brisbane and are now scheduled to fly home to Perth tommorrow!!Two weeks early!! So looks like an update may be in the pipeline sooner than expected.
  13. Looks like a nice clean little build. Don't forget to fair the bulkheads before planking. The photo instructions look good.
  14. Stunning job. Yes it would be hard to find people to do it now days. Very well presented.
  15. Great job. I do love the washes you do. The ships boats on my Friesland are stacked like yours, With NO plans for chocks between the two. Now after seeing you scratch your own chocks I will take you up on this idea and do the same Beautifully done.
  16. Its best on a double planked hull to use full length planks on the first layer, This way you get the nice even shape of the hull. Then the second layer with scale planks are easily layed with the right contours.
  17. Welcome aboard! From across the island. All the best with your builds.
  18. What a massive, Detailed build. Looks superb. I do like the rings for the breach ropes and gun tackles.
  19. Good idea with the extra bracing. I have done this also and I'm glad I did. It's coming along great. Good job.
  20. Well done and congratulations! I just had a look in the gallery, What an impressive build. Looks realy good with the weathering.
