Great Scott .... so much to take in. Love the pintles/gudgeons and the pumps. That's not to say I don't like the creative bending. Brute force triumphs once again! Nice work, Frank.

I only know from Chuck Passaro's Syren that there was a black strake right above where the wales ended. Ironically, he pointed out that it was not black.

Good catch. And rest assured (as Mark said) that in the many Syren logs I've followed, there have been quite a few bulk heads cracked. That rabbet method is really a good technique. Chuck used it in Confed as well.

Yes, Salty does some amazing work --- and keeps trying to outdo himself. Ken, just something to keep in mind. Next time you want to make a black paper band, consider flat black heat heat shrink tubing. Comes in a lot of diameters, slices easily into any length. I usually give mine a coat of clear flat acrylic after shrinking and it's on for good.

When I read words like 'having fun' and 'enjoying' it makes me smile right along. Your work is neat and clean....and she's lookin' good! Ladders can be frustrating. I've made several with my patented 85-95 degree 'right' angles and they wind up in the scrap box. Be patient.....you'll get it. And good thinking on the ship's boat. Now as for the stickers..........

I don't know who they are going to 'take away' first, Popeye. You for doing all this or me for enjoying it so much. Nice chain fall. Adds a nice bit of contrast.

Looks like you're going to need two things: a) A bigger camera A harpoon That's an awful lot of firepower. You're doing a great job. Nelson himself would be proud, my friend.

You're definitely making progress if they feel smooth to the touch. You're working on one of the toughest sections to get just right. Good plan to move on and (possibly) revisit later.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
