I have done more planking to the other side, in order to even it out on both sides. I have done some tapering to the planks so far in the process. now that I'm reaching the chines, it will require more. I don't know what the thought was in creating the ribs with such an edge at the chines. in past pictures of the hull frame, you can see just how much of an edge there is. this must be removed and rounded to compliment the contour of the hull below the water line.

hello Anja........we got the card you sent today in the mail. thank you so much..... we had a quiet annaversary.....recapped the 25 years we've spent together. we both came to the conclusion, that we've done quite well for ourselves. lots of fun! thank Sjors for me as well.

thanks Ron, Eric, and Mark.........I guess the thing to say should be, that it's about time I got to rigging this bad girl! the word from you Eric, tells me I'm on the right track. thanks again for that belaying diagram....it's going to come in handy. I only have a few mins......I am almost out the door for work. I tried to do this last night, but I had internet issues in the middle of it. I have done a bit more to the fore mast, going with the double blocks for the main yard rigging. I want to get the fore mast in place........shrouds......fore rigging....more rigging!

the hull came out very nice. the wood is called Obechi......I use it quite a bit. it does behave well when wet, but cutting it can be a problem, if the blade isn't sharp....does tend to want to splinter. sanding isn't fun either.....very rough grain. very nice method.........I'll have to try it sometime!
-
thanks Sjors and Augie.......I need to do just a little more filing to make them totally round inside. I've gotta count out the 3.5mm dead eyes I will need......I want to try it on a few of those thanks Frank........you know what I mean are you working on your Supply yet? I'm gonna catch up to you, you know I'm working on it Bob......hope that's what will come of her.........I'm a little out of water on this build. the Revell Cutty Sark was the last ship I did any major rigging to. I think I'll do OK though. thanks for the good word!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
