  1. Dave, Just catching up - as always very inspiring work. Looks awesome
  2. Frank: The knightheads will go through the upper deck and attach to the upper gun deck floor. Also need to figure out what kinds of details to those four. The ship was first rate - so certainly the knightheads were sculpted as well. BTW the kit provided pins are way too large. Will toss those - and gold metal no less.
  3. Denis: Yes that rail cutaway is part of the cutaway - might be overkill on my part - here are a couple more photos, including one from the outer hull. =========================== Started work on the stairs as well as the chainplates. Decided to use Amati parts for the deadeyes. Learned something. Apart from the fiddly business of wrapping these small strap rings around the deadeyes, I also knew that those brass parts should be black. Did not want to first dip all of those bits into Brass Black liquid, and then put them all togethre - way too messy - was just going to leave all of those bright. Then by chance decided to dunk a wood deadeye into the Brass Black solution - well (I sort of thought so) but Brass Black did not also blacken the wood deadeye. So then just dipped all of the completed assemblies into the solution. Rinsed and you can see the results - very acceptable. Thanks for the likes and just stopping by.....
  4. Yes indeed, very beautiful. Ulises was very helpful with my effort with my Vasa. He was kind enough to send me jpgs of all of his kit's running rigging sheets after I decided to also add sails to my Corel example. I also looked over so many of his build log photos for help - Thanks again UV. Cheers,
  5. Congratulations indeed! As we would presume to say here in your old colonies - "Now that's a Grand Slam of a job. Though it seems that you had good help from two of our colonist's businesses for supplies lol... As always B.E. your work is superlative, and always a pleasure and learning experience to follow. Cheers
  6. Nice -- I'm tempted to work on two at a time but just no room haha
  7. NIce added details. These after-market brass bits - sometimes in the many hundreds+ pieces tend to double the price of the original kit but add many times over that in the look of the completed build. Well worth the added cost IMO Regards,
  8. Denis, thanks appreciated. Made some minor final adjustments to these bits - now moving on.....will leave side (stairs?) ladders for later. I have seen drawings of this ship that include side skids in just about this area of midsection - need to think about this as well. Might get too busy looking. Good time for pinrails - need to get lathe out in any case for those missing deck support stanchions. PS: Missing some of your updates!!! Regards,
  9. Completed the revised look of the side planks glad it's done. Almost done with most of the woodwork - will add carriages and so on. Here are a few updated photos. Need to figure out how to add pin rail to that side hmmm--- This kit precludes any instructions in that regard only two rails in front of and behind the main mast. Of course not correct since the main mast is fully rigged including sails so pins on both sides are needed. (The OcCre instructions for the complete ship - that also includes a cross section as part of the full ship package does, in fact, show pins for the included cross section instructions) Odd that for buyers of just the cross section they ignore that bit. The cross section kit comes with pre-cut sails. Regards,
  10. Joachin, Clicking the "like" ikon is much too little. This build needs an "Amazing" thumbs up option as well. Brilliant work! Sincerely,
  11. Thanks Frank and EJ, Decided to try, in fact, leaving one side partially open from both the deck and hull sides - will show framing details for one of the gun frames on the deck - this will be more visible once the ship is completed. Looking through other builder's logs trying to educate myself on how it should look. The work that I have seen is way above my skill set - but having some positive representative ideas. EJ thanks for the "push" Cheers,
  12. Revision updates for deck side framing. Here are a few photos - As always thanks for your looking in, and advice much appreciated as well.
  13. Patrick, As all are saying - great work indeed. Your level of research for this project is great to follow as well. Must be fun looking for, and building as historically accurate as possible these details into this brilliant project. Cheers,
  14. E.J. Good save on your part - looks as if your wheel also took a hit? MJD
  15. Patrick, Thanks for confirming -- I will start this area all over again I also need waterways - missing from other decks (I knew that but ignored them hmmmm) At least I had only started top deck one side. haha PS: You are fluent in Google ‼️ Regards,
  16. Hi Mates, This current bit has caused me some stress. Did not quite know how to approach the idea of also adding the needed openings for boarding the ship (not a detail as part of the kit). But here is a work in progress update. Took several failed attempts to figure out how to proceed - do think that it will work out now PS: having second thoughts about the thickness of the inner bulwark planks - could be too thick hmmm? Cheers,
  17. Frank, Vossiewulf, Denis, Patrick, Vivian - thanks so much for your nice posts much appreciated. Waiting for some oak planking from Age of Sails so upper hull and inner planks on hold. Kit is a bit "off" in this area - see assembly photos - so working on some other bits in the meantime. Stairs and upper deck grids are almost done.
  18. Vivian, looking more carefully could that actually be the stern? It appears as if the rudder may be there as well, and as to how you mounted its sail. Not familiar at all with these boats.
  19. V, Nice work on the sails. Interesting how the entire bow section is totally open to any slightly rough seas. That said bow section is needed as a work area. Nice project!!
  20. Patrick, This last series of photos are a real treat!! Love the maps - how did you ever reduce those jpg's to such a small size - very creative. Also your interior shots at eye level are great - GoPro single frame?? Cheers,
  21. Yves, This Trumpeter sub has always been an intriguing possibility for me after seeing Das Boot in the theater in 1981 it always stuck with me. I also later saw the full length German TV series version of the same - (4:48 hours). I had also never forgotten the ending of that movie - after ALL that they went through. Are you planning to also do some "aging" paint work down the road? Hera are a couple of bits that I found online (since you've resurfaced my interest in this boat again. https://www.amazon.com/U-Boat-1936-45-Type-VIIA-VIIC/dp/0857334042 and FYI. PS: The metal etched after-market parts will make ALL the difference in this model, good choice on your part.
  22. Yves, Excellent work cutting out plastic bits - much more complicated than it looks.
