  1. Tamiya makes some as does Vellejo. Both spray and bottles.
  2. Welcome to MSW. When the kit comes, open a build log. It's the best way to get help and meet others. The captain's motto is a good one to follow.
  3. Thanks for the likes and comments. I've started sanding and will take my time and not rush it. I know I'll have gap fill but I'm ready for that. On this step as Willie Nelson would say: "It's been fun and it's been real. But it ain't been real fun.". On the bright side, it was a good lesson to re-learn on first planking.
  4. A hard but good decision, Glenn. Been there myself more than once and not just models.
  5. Putting a render here won't be off topic since it is part of the Charles Martel. Also, it fits in with "methods" for building the model.
  6. I think that banging one's head on the wall is actually part of model shipbuilding. Don't we all have bruised foreheads from either banging the wall or facepalming?
  7. I do the same as you... make stick, glue some sandpaper down. Also the same grits. The other thing for sanding I use a lot is those disposable finger nail files. They're flexible and come in many grits.
  8. I call it vocabulary building as I try to find new ways to turn air blue.
  9. First two photos didn't come down the pipe, Roger. They're links to nowhere.
  10. Update. The hull has it's first planking in place. Well, almost. I just ripped off two planks on the side not shown due to them coming loose. A bit of re-glue will fix and then tomorrow I'll start sanding. I believe that what happened was I wasn't as careful lining off the hull and the errors magnified themselves by the time I got to the keel. Lesson learned, sharper pencil and more patience needed.
  11. I realize it's not about bleating. I would hope they would take your comments in the spirit they're intended, even it's just changing the instructions.
  12. Keep track of the errors, Grant. When you're done send them Model Expo. Could be interesting to see what they say.
  13. Bingo! Spot on. Things haven't changed much in that regard since the earliest times in history.
  14. Welcome to MSW, Ugo. Beautiful work on the figures and gun. If you would like to, open a log on your carronade. We would love to see it.
  15. Ah... got it. They probably should have just did a shaft and then used self-tapping nuts.
  16. I found some Tamiya "Fine" primer at my local hobby shop. It's acrylic and comes in three colors... white, gray, and black. All they had was spray but you might check on line if they have it in bottles. I wanted the "fine" for the brass on my model.
  17. There's only two places to worry about.. where the trunnions are. Don't paint the bottom of the caps or the mating surface on the carriage. The other place will just be a small spot (depending on the carriage and gun type) where the breech rests.
  18. What Edward said. Would white primer work better? I gather you still have a herd of these guys to do.
  19. Looks great but there's obviously a bunch of "oh crap" moments involved. I can't imagine using Britannia metal for nuts and bolts.
  20. For "light work", take a look at the WeCheer WE-242. It's small, variable speeds, but not much torque. Takes all the Dremel collets. I like it over the Dremel as I don't feel the weight of it but the "feel" of what's being shaped.
  21. I'll move this to the photo forum since that would probably be the best place.
  22. The capstan on that ship is just pure fantasy much like many other things on her.
  23. Fascinating stuff on these printers. It's voodoo to me but I guess time to start reading up a bit.
