  1. I thought it was me?
  2. I believe you would be better off to leave the fillers where they are and they will need fairing also. So as you're working on the bulkheads, you'll also get the filler faired.
  3. Unreal the amount of detail there.
  4. I'll have to re-read it. I recall some shortcuts like wood scored to indicate planking, but it's been a few years or more since I read it.
  5. As someone way back when said about "requesting being able to return fire": "Geneva Convention? We don't need no Convention to stay alive."
  6. When he hit's the Doris builds, I expect to hear a jaw drop to the floor.
  7. Looking good, Daniel. I'm surprised you haven't basically tossed out all the kit parts and made your own.
  8. I wish you were doing a build log for this kit. The more, the merrier.
  9. John, would someone with a set of keys let you in if you explained the tool issue? Just a thought.
  10. Looks good from here. As for the "sheen", cast iron does have a subtle sheen to it. I'll have to check but I recall somewhere that they rubbed the iron down with something or maybe paint to fight the rust.
  11. Egilman, you might (if you haven't already) take a look at this in the database. There's other articles that might help also. https://thenrg.org/resources/Documents/articles/DraftingShipPlansInCAD.pdf
  12. For bands, I go for the black construction paper and then lay on a coat of black paint so the color doesn't fade as easily. Lots of "cheats" to this model business. If you can, read "Legacy of a Ship Model.. Examining HMS Princess Royal 1775" by Rob Napier. The old masters used a lot of tricks also.
  13. On the bright side, no one will be able to run away.
  14. The belts and cockpit look great. The bad part is, they'll pretty much hidden once everything goes to together.
  15. One mean looking beast there, OC. Not something I'd want to run into.
  16. I'm in also Egilman. Maybe this old dog (me) can learn some new tricks.
  17. Hull framing is looking good and smooth. Nothing wrong with a power sander in my opinion. I've used them for my builds also. Saves a lot of time and less exhausting.
  18. One can make sticky sticks using some scrap wood in thin squares or even round toothpicks. Dip the end in some melted candle wax. When cool, they seem to work. I've not tried this method yet but with PE coming up for my current build I'm researching things out.
  19. I believe you are right. I've seen those knees installed on top or on the bottom of the channels. I can understand them being on the bottom for "ease of build" but given the stresses, on top would probably be better.
  20. Nice work. If mine comes out looking half that good, I'll be thrilled.
