  1. Welcome to MSW. Your Jolly Boat looks great. Looking forward to your build log.
  2. Beautiful and precise. Thanks for letting us follow along.
  3. Ah.. rigging.<facepalm> I think I have some old AL line, let me know what you need and I'll see what I have. And if you want great line, Chuck sells the best I've ever seen.
  4. They moved to Vietnam and within a year or two were gone. Sting? Not sure what you're looking for. BTW, nice to see you back.
  5. Looking great, Tom. Just be careful out there at work and I hope the rhythm comes back quickly to you and your team.
  6. Welcome to MSW, Paul. Join in and open a build log.
  7. Hi Jim. Welcome to MSW. I just saw your other post and put in an answer to your problem. I do suggest opening a build log as that way you'll get some help and meet some folks.
  8. Since AL is out business, I would suggest getting a piece of plywood the same thickness and cutting a new one. The other alternative is mount the bulkheads to the keel. Let the glue thoroughly dry, then insert some spacer wood between the bulkheads such that they push the bend out. Be sure to put spacers in both sides to keep the keel from warping the other way.
  9. At risk of life and limb, you can tell her that you need to work on the ship as your loyal audience awaits.
  10. Good question. Test it on one of planks say 2" at one end and the hold another plank next to and see what it looks like. Walnut may be too dark for this to work well.
  11. No paper here. I use a #2 pencil or a black felt pen that almost dried up.
  12. Welcome MSW, Petr. I suggest opening a build log when you're ready as it's an excellent way to get help and advise.
  13. I'm not going to like that post, Dick. I hope you can figure a way to solve the issue.
  14. Castor oil was problem and a big one also for the pilots. Most of them had, instead of what they called it, shall we say, a bad case of diarrhea from it. I'm glad you caught that aileron. Looking good....
  15. Wonderful!!!!! Anyone else besides me hear Jimi Hendrix doing "All along the Watchtower"?
  16. Welcome to MSW, Alan.
  17. I don' think they have better instructions. Those kits have been around for a long time. I tried those little boat kits and never could get them to work. For my Licorne, I used a Master Korabel kit (the biggest one). I had to make 3 so two kits and one kit that I enlarged as it needed to be 6" long. The two boats that were stacked inside were just the kits with a few mods to make them look French.
  18. I'm beginning to think Bob is the adventurous one among us. But if that's what he's been using and hasn't had an issue... good for him. I hope it always goes well.
  19. Hmm... I think we've done that or came close to it at some point. I do know that the bathtub works for cleaning engines and parts.
  20. Same here old shop towel or tissue. I have some old cloth shop towels that should be tossed that use for this.
  21. I've had nothing with bad luck with the MS boats. I hope you have better luck. You might look at the Master Korabel boats. They're at 1:72 if I remember right and largest one with a bit of modifying might just work for you.
