  1. I'm moving this to the Wooden Model Kit Questions and Answers area. I would suggest a quick search through that forum might give you a starting place.
  2. Denis, Superb work and that rigging is wonderful. I recall what I thought was a lot of rigging on Wasa, but nothing like what your SoS has.
  3. Bear, Have a look here: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/985-amati-and-chris-watton/ The Revenge is discussed on and off throughout the topic but particularly the last several pages. Chris is the designer, BTW.
  4. Just amazingly beautiful, Piet. Who knew an airplane guy could do subs, eh? I'm thinking your father would be busting the buttons off his shirt with pride in this. I know it's got me smiling.......
  5. Sweet work, Pete. I'm currently of the belief that the fishing weight should stay.
  6. Nice work on the plating. As for the phone... I would never advise as phones are something very personal to most folks. Me... no data, no texting, just a phone is best.
  7. NIce work, Chris. And great progress. So it's too late to drill and then epoxy in the rods?
  8. I bought some vinyl fence post covers (square) that measure roughly 4 inches by 4 inches and cut them into 3 foot lengths. I marked them with a Sharpie by species. They lay on their sides. I also have several shoe boxes with bits in baggies and rubberbanded. Judging from the way my storage area looks, I can use some more.
  9. Ben, I've found that buying blades with fine teeth is a better deal when buying them by the gross. Cherry wears them out in a hurry also.
  10. Clare, No problem from my end. BTW, congrats on the cover ship for the NRJ.
  11. I think you just made a major discovery, JPett
  12. Ah.. found it.. NRG Journal. Autumn issue, right inside the front cover. Ages of Sail ad but nothing on their website.
  13. Bart, To my knowledge, Blacken-it is only for brass. White metal is a totally different critter...Hopefully the Jax will work for it.
  14. Gentleman, I have deleted Igor's hijack of this log. And all of his posts which seem to be reflecting a pirated kit. I'll continue to monitor just in case. Thanks for your forbearance.
  15. Great find!!!! I've been using both Olson and some from Saw Bird. I think it would depend on what you're planning to cut. My current blades are the Saw Bird #3 Double Reverse Tooth (TPI 20) with 8 reverse teeth. Good for 1/8" to 1/4" thick wood. I use the Olson Skip Tooth #400 (TPI 33) for the thinner woods.
  16. I would think any PVA wood glue would work. But I did Google: https://www.google.com/#q=cobbler's+glue with some interesting results. So.... I'm not sure what they're specifying.
  17. I love that deck... fit for a king or queen. Wow.
  18. I get the splits around the fingernails from the wood and dryness. Moisturize and do it several times a day with a good hand lotion (but don't use the Admiral's... get your own). I'm not sure what's available these days but there used to be a lotion that photographer's put on that dried and prevented the chemicals used on B&W photography from drying the hands. As I recall, it worked like a charm. There's also a product (pricey as hell) called ALPS lotion that prosthetic users can use. I've used it once or twice and found it helps keep my hands from cracking.
  19. That is a nice looking ship's boat. Do you have pictures of its construction?
  20. John, It's not on Google.. it's right here: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/7658-marryat-code-signal-for-ship-ocean-monarch-1856-moved-by-moderator/ In the Ship's Plans and Research area... It's possible that no one knows the answer....
  21. What the others have said. I'm truly at a loss for words to describe my admiration for your work.
  22. Johnroy, Try posting your question here...http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/forum/24-wood-ship-model-kit-questions-and-reviews/ Build log tend not to get the traffic as much as the more general forums. The reason is, those who may know might not read a particular build if they have no interest. Also, many who build kits, never ever look in the scratch builds.
