  1. As the others have said..."as much as you feel like doing". In looking at the Hahn models, he cut away quite bit and in some cases almost down to the keel. He also populated those now open areas with some crew, stores, etc.
  2. I'll be following along, Eric. Should be an interesting project.
  3. Here's more about not only the sub based bomber but other attacks on Oregon by the Japanese. https://sos.oregon.gov/archives/exhibits/ww2/Pages/threats-bombs.aspx
  4. Welcome to MSW, RH-J.
  5. Wonderful work. Will you be adding any scale figures (maybe one or two) to give a sense of size?
  6. Wonderful craftsmanship, Brian. This beast deserves to be in a museum.
  7. I don't see that as a problem.... oh wait... I'm a modeler also.
  8. No worries, OC. I agree with everyone else, real life has to be first priority.
  9. A beautiful model, Toni, with great attention to detail.
  10. There's been several builds of biremes over years. A quick search should give some good results.
  11. Hi Gill, welcome to MSW. I suggest you open a build log, not only to chart your progress but also it's a great way to get help and meet others.
  12. That is frustrating to say the least. I'm not sure why the first layer (the scanned print) would disappear. I'm using CorelDraw and my scan is the first layer and then I open a second on top of it. When done, I close/delete the first layer. I should add that I'm not using "bitmap" for the new layer bur "vector". Try this... pull in the scan print. Make sure you're using "vector" and not "bitmap" for settings. I assume that in your testing you were. Draw on top of it directly. Use a different color pen so you can see what you've done. Then try to delete the scan print. That might work. If it does, then you can enlarge the drawing you did.
  13. I'm a bit late but in for this build. I'm glad you were able to get a full recovery, Eric.
  14. Michael, there's an area in Shore Leave that's perfect for the rail coach build: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/73-non-shipcategorised-builds/
  15. Simon, do you have a CAD type of program? Even CorelDraw has one. You could scan the lower sized prints, trace them in CAD and then enlarge without getting the "jaggies".
  16. As much as I still like adventure, one must remember that "adventure makes one late for dinner".
  17. Cathead is right. Any posts on "how-tos" not in a log generally result in a lot of opinions It would be a massive job to generate such an area and it would be a massive forum area if one looks at the all the kit makers and all different kits that have been made over the decades. We had a member start a list of all the kits and makers.... massive project and it was never finished. See https://modelshipworld.com/topic/4339-announcing-the-model-ship-world-ship-kit-database-project/
  18. Looks great EG. Having something to focus on is important especially when there's medical stuff going on. Keep the faith that all will be well.
  19. I agree with Chris. Incredible work you're doing but makes me cross-eyed just thinking about it.
  20. Keith is right... she'll be missed by many of us over here. A sad day today.
  21. Looking good and Jaager has some good suggestions as well as the one Bruce mentioned. I would go a bit easy on the beveling of the frame. Leave some meat there as sanding prior to planking will get you dead on. Better to have a bit more wood for sanding/shaping than not enough.
