  1. The river will flow left to right passing the mill, i am creating another bridge that will span this new aspect the mill has a separate water which then flows into the river, so at present,
  2. Good evening everyone mill day 2 although day 2 i was messing about with other bits to try and work out what i am trying to achieve, if i do ever give up on this project, its not due to ideas, more to the fact, i dont have much of a plan on where I want to go with it the river wall is coming on ok, the wooden piles fitted in ok, was happy with the mill tonight but i took the windows out again as they were over sized, intention are now to have a another building at right angles to this one through which the water supply will pass, and a warehouse to the right for some sort of boat loading by the steps
  3. wow that will just finish it off so very nice, lol all the things i would have to make
  4. having finished the church for now, time for something else day 1 water mill like last time no plans just trying to keep to a scale of 1/87 i have an idea of how i want it to look, a building above a stream with a top fed water supply, 3 levels above ground lever, with a canopy over the water pit so bear with me, and im open to suggestions as always
  5. LOL how you going to get everyone in there with that much traffic around
  6. good afternoon everyone hope everyone had a nice safe Christmas, ours was very quiet, my wife daughters family all went down with the plague, so spoilt things, but they are all ok so far day 24 church complete built the tower back onto the wall, but not within it as before the roof has been stained with a weak peat india ink, any other bits will have to wait, till it is decided where it will fit, and at what ere its going to be in
  7. ty OC im sure it will look ok when all the little jobs come to completion, and it suddenly jumps out at me and says "IM A CHURCH"
  8. good evening everyone day 20 tower entrance and some non grey im weathering with india inks, im not sure about it yet, it dont take hostages for sure the terracotta and stone clay will come in quite useful, its just a matter of learning another trick
  9. Good evening everyone Day 18 rebuild the back wall is now going back in played around with the louvre/shutters on the bell openings, not as much done as wanted, life keeps getting in the way tonight i was given a lecture on the east/west orientation of churches, and what side the access to doors should be in relation to that , lots to learn, but if you read/trust wikki churches were built/rebuilt in what ever space was given to the building not sure if i should redo the walls now or just do better on the next unit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orientation_of_churches
  10. the footprint of the layout is going to be quite something, must have quite a few figure's completed now well done
  11. thank you and most of it (95%) has been put into the rebuild
  12. good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes Day 17 since 1/87 agreed the tower wasnt good enough so its been redone, hope it looks better
  13. Sorry @Old Collingwood i never got back to you thank you for the photo i will be updating very soon
  14. i have brought 3 chairs, a wagon full of popcorn and cloudy lemonade for this one Dennis, can me doggie come a watch as well, he is sick of the lockdown restrictions as much as everyone else
  15. good morning everyone i asked for honest opinions, so have taken the build back to try and sort the problems, i was quite happy with the church sides, the tower really bugged me, so at present the roof was removed and tower taken down, as for the spire, well you wont see that again what i do like about this material, is that most of it is salvageable,, being ceramic stuck to paper with PVA glue the adhesive and paper dissolve in warm water leaving minimum clean up on the bricks which are reusable , lol depending how much they were sanded what went wrong the tower was ok up to the apex of the roof, with a combination of the apex and the bell window openings everything got bunched up, i started then to patch it up, hence the earthquake look what i should have done was brick the tower separately yes i do make work for my self, anyone who follows my logs know that, but, i dont want 15 fully built churches i want to try and get the first one looking better lessons learnt (and yes all the same as boat building) yes its a simple church, but still need to draw some basic scale plans, and don't add bits half way through draw straight lines on the paper to keep bricks in line look at photos to see how they were built sand each layer,
  16. i joined a FB site medieval Buildings Group, and if i understand it right they might have been added at a much later date, But i am unsure about what date my village will be set in,
  17. Agreed, it looks a bit naff in places, mainly the top 1/3 of the tower i dont like the spire at all so im thinking to remove it take the tower off at roof apex height and rebuild it moving the openings up and leave it as a flat roof
  18. good evening everyone day 14 roof and spire can i have some honest opinions please, i am not correcting the damage on the tower, the diorama will have a story to it, the gable ends and roof apex will be sorted tomorrow
  19. Welcome to MSW will look forward to seeing what you decide on
