You asked earlier what the anchor fluke protector was called. The fluke used to be called the bill and it was called a Billboard. It's probably the etymological ancestor to the advertising signs on the highway. -
But it looks real good so the next one will be even better.

My 1:96 Revel Cutty Sark has been on hold for a bit as we try to move amid Covid. Buying a house isn't easy with social distancing I tell ya. LOL Yes, Shubie is just up from Maitland.

I'm trying to replicate those for a full sized vessel. I think I'm going to need to turn them on a face plate and not between ends. About 4-5 inch diameter.

I need to update that. I have sold my home in Shubie and we now live in Halifax, pretty close to downtown. We're looking to purchase somewhere not too far from town with a bit of space. We've outgrown this home by a lot. Funny enough, Shubie is close to the Bay of Fundy so I was still close to the water. Navy allows me to live out to just past Shubenacadie without any problem but it's convenient living 5 minutes from the dockyard to go to work.

Is there a way to break down kit availability by scale? If one were to want to work in say 1:64th exclusively, how would one best find out what models are available in that scale? Or would they have to just go through everyone's site and see what they have in 1:64?

She's the only clipper to have had four masts. Was she one of the first four masted vessels? By the time of the iron ships of the next generation, there were 4 and even a 5 masted ship but not in this generation. I wonder when that started. Nice work Rob. She's looking great.

Lady Nelson? Speedy? Are they suitable first builds? I think they're pretty simple as far as rigging is concerned.

There's a shop down the street, 3 blocks away, with a copy of her plans. I remember seeing them and deciding they were over my price range. Can't remember what they were asking.

I use split topsails to tell me if she was built in the 1860s and later or before that. She looks to have single topsails and topgallants in all those images. It's just the addition of the skysails over the royals that are in question. Could easily have been added at any time. A new Royal/Skysail pole and she'd easily be retrofitted with it at a later date. I wonder if that happened or was she launched that way?

Cool. Thanks. I didn't know that. Thought topmasts abaft were exclusively in the realm of big ocean carriers later in the 1800s in the age of the split tops, the brace winches, patented topsail reefing systems, and Bentink courses.
