The Infini upgrade includes propeller guards and solid bars which in real life are chains that can pull them up. Thus the 1/700 chain. Needs a touch up but I’ll do that after I put the torpedo net shelves on nd I can do another round of weathering. I’m thinking the deck is mostly done.

You can just make out the name plate plate at the stern.

The torpedo net shelves come is 3 pieces each side. I painted them on the fret and used chipping fluid of reveal a red oxide undercoat. I want to do a fair bit more work on them now they’re on the hull. Very fragile and somewhat nerve wracking to place.

Each boom has 2 pulleys added (not included in the upgrade) and 1 on the hull. I’m thinking all up it would be a weeks work but I’ve taken to listening to podcasts or audio books which is a very good distraction.

Once I’ve finishedd the booms I’ll add the nets, which I’ve primed but need to paint and weather before adding. When they’re on I’ll add more pulleys to pre placed rings on the hull (22 in total) and lines will be added then that should do it.

Looking fantastic Greg.  A great example in how to build a model. You should write an instruction guide with step by stem instructions and pictures so us mortals can try to produce a satisfying model.

I'm wondering how you can keep all those lines apart ... it would turn me crazy (fortunately that has already been done in other ways)

Torpedo nets;

matte black

dark grey airbrushed down the parts where the lines will run, and the edges (it’s so dark you can’t see any details at all otherwise.

dark grey light drybrush

light grey drybrush

dark rust streaks

light rust streaks

green slime along the base.

Result? I just don’t  know. No one had colour film back then.

So, as I can’t upload any photos, I’m having the same issues as a lot of others; sideline question;

USS Yorktown CV-10 1944 or

DKM Graf Zepplin ?

DKM Graf Zepplin, definitely. Not much German ships, and most German builds are either Scharnhorst or Tirpitz.
