Hi all,

Early next year, Amati will release their new 1:200 Bismarck kit. This one will be a beast!

Here's some info on this forthcoming kit:

  • Length 127 cm
  • Height 29 cm
  • Width 18 cm
  • Hull: plank on frame (also ready to accommodate RC Control)
  • Laser etched wooden decks
  • Anton Bruno Cesar and Dora turrets made in plywood and covered with photoetched brass.
  • Metal gun barrels.
  • Options for three style of camouflage, dependent on career stage.
  • Wooden base for etched plate
  • Decals for Sound Locator System.

The Bismarck will be unveiled at the Nuremberg Toy Fair between 29th January - 2nd February 2020, by Krick, Amati's German distributor.

Here's a few photos. I'll add more over the next weeks :)

surprised they went for that when the 1/200 Trumpeter sells well, with the added PE sets, lots of other ships they could have done

Its all part of Kev's journey, bit like going to the dark side, but with the lights on

I don't think it would be an issue as this is a POB model and not a plastic kit, plus they already released this as a magazine partwork through a publisher a while ago, and it's generally considered to be the most accurate. This model us an upgraded version of that.

I'm led to believe that price will be around €480, but there is some possible fluidity in that yet.

$533.00 usd ainht a bad price for that kit and at 50 inches, she'll be a biggun for sure.

For what its worth Trumpeter  makes a 1/200 1941 German Bismarck Battleship.

Also for ones interested, there is a guy that posts everyday his progress on this kit for the past 11 months.

He is getting close to finishing it.

STOP !STOP! STOP ! you keep showing kits that I MUST have. This looks incredibly good and (sorry) wood is far better to work with than plastic. My wish list is growing in inverse proportion to my modelling life expectancy but this will near the top of that list. The variety of content will be a worthwhile challenge and the price mentioned seems reasonable compared to other kits (eg my Amerigo Vespucci). Please keep us updated.

And so, did this kit was ever made available in the USA? Sincerely, I doubt it will be and the Trumpeter kit (although plastic) will fill the niche of that incredible vessel in 1/200 scale.

The Revenge designed by Chris Watton took quite a few years to be proposed by Amati.

The Victory (1/64) also designed by Chris Watton is still not available, years after the kit has been delivered to their office in Italy.

I am not holding my breath on this one, even though the Parts were distributed in Europe a few years back.

Yves, like a lot of things, this might have to be ordered from some company in Europe.

Just got the 140 part build log of the previous release watched on YouTube, very impressive.

Is there any information available of the upgrades?

I stand self-corrected.

BTW, Krickshop has set a price for new Amati Bismarck, 998€.

AMAIT-HACHETTE also has a similar 1:200 Kit of HMS HOOD.  Evidently only available by subscription in Europe. Has there been any indication that they might release a kit of the Hood as well? And..importantly for me, make it available to North America??

Not sure about the Hood. I can ask.
