Good job on your first airbrush session. Great info from Craig and Alan.

I've read and seen on the YouTube vids a technique to put a drop or two of flow improver into the paint cup with your conditioned paint. Opinions, gents?

Thanks Ken,   I was thinking similar  but was in a rush to test it out.

not so much a stranger this time...........catching up was a lot quicker  ;)     really nice job with the dio.........the pool looks great and your small set up shows how good it's gonna look!  I got back into airbrushing when I started to build wood ships........too much surface area for a brush alone! ;)   yup...practice will make all the difference.   the more you do,  the better your gonna get!  fantastic job so far my friend.......keep up the good work! :)

Thank you  so much Denis  - really appreciate  you looking in and feedback.

Evening all, I have a bit of progress  with my build  (needed to keep my mind active)

What a way to start the day  don't know if I mentioned but my  brother had been poorly and had sent 3 months in hospital just after Christmas,  ant way this morning  we had a phone call  to say my brother had gone missing and had not been seen or heard from in nearly Two days,   so it was a case of ringing around different people even the police were involved, cut a long story short he was found walking the streets  confused and dehydrated - the police took him to the nearest hospital where he still is being checked over.

My understanding his he was possibly walking the streets through the night.

My life is not dull  - that's for certain.

So back on with my build  -  the 2nd KGL  had the shading and the slight pink details done to their faces and a wash to the hands,  then the hats and Green jackets painted  - then the haversacks and  belts were painted.

I'm glad your brother turned up safely OC. Scary stuff.

I am always amazed how well you paint these faces. Each figure has an individual face and looks very real - and they are tiny.

Great Stuff

Thank you kindly Alan, I know  tell me about it.

I am still picking up ways of improving the faces  - sometimes I use more or less wash  that settles in the groves and eye sockets, and also using a combination of colours to shadow/highlight the different parts of the face  - same with the  cheeks  giving them a slight pink glow  - its all about trying different shades to nail it.

Perhaps you "personalize" the faces, OC.  Give some a mustache or a beard?   If they Irish in the ranks, maybe some red hair...?  I'll go quietly off now......

Alan

Thank you Alan,   I  had to play around with the colours a bit  because the pink on the cheeks was a bit too clown like, So I went over with a diluted  face base colour I use first  - this allowed just the right amount of  pink to show through.

And I added a couple of "Toshes"

Evening all,    I had quite a productive  evening  for a  few hours  - I decided to get my airbrush/spray booth out  and started by Flat top coating the last Three  finished KGL, I have a very good Acrylic Flat top coat  called    -  Ammo by Mig Ultra Matt Lucky Varnish    it is in a tall bottle and even has a ball bearing inside  for shaking it,     its been fab so far whaen brushed on  - however I was realy supprised that it was even better when misted on using my airbrush.   I was soon getting used to the dual action  and the finish was Superb  Dead Flat.

So I thought  why stop there  - so I got my box out containg my  50 odd painted figures  and set about spraying these with the Flat coat.

I was finding I could do Three at a time with the metal pot on the airbrush about 3/4  full,   as soon as it was empty I would  wash it through with some cleaner and plain water - then continue again   - took me about Three hours to finish all of them.

Loving the airbrush.

Evening all, some more progress  this evening  -   remember those Three  2nd KGL?   well I took them off their bases then put them to One side,  I got the base section near the  pond  and worked out where I wanted to place my new figures  -  this required some planks making up and stacking together to  give some height so they could fire through the holes in the wall,  so my lolly sticks came into use  - cut sanded  glued then a Brown coat followed by a Black was - then my  dark wash  finished of with a dust dry brush.

These were put to One side  while  - "Those bricks from the wall"   were made into a little pile  - glued in place then painted.

Then the Three figures were glued in position  -  looking quite busy.

Evening my fellow - very patient  followers,   some more progress  on my build  -  I am working on the ground plan,  this is taking some testing and  shaping  to get all the buildings and walls  to lign up, i got the main section in supported by a sheet of paper underneath, then a bit of putty was put in a few of the gaps and painted over,   i also  put a couple of water puddles in the corners from the rain that ran down off the roofs,   I will do the same - paper trick underneath the front sections before putty and paint  - then there will be some  washes and  dust dry brushing.

Evening all, a tiny bit of progress  -  I decided to add some colour details to the stones in the courtyard,   these will be blended  when I do a wash or Two  and dry brush  dusting,   I also fitted a tiny rough lawn that  was in the courtyard  - its one of those scenery mats  that you just cut to size and glue down using PVA   - think it looks OK.

The grass looks very good. I think the vegetation is going to blend the buildings and the walls together and soften the lines to make it look spectacularly realistic. Its coming together beautifully.

Evening all,  some good progress  -   the complex  (apart from the  garden shed)  is now fitted together  and the joins in the floor filled with putty  and painted,   I had to put a slither in a gap  close to the main gate - this was then painted and  dry brushed,    it still needs a couple of washes  over the floor and dry dusting.

The grass area received some attaention also  -  the grass blades were coming out  so I brushed over s watery PVA mix  then  weathered it a bit using some datk wash  to simulate a dirt grass from lots of rain.

I have included some arty pics  to show some different views.

Thank you kindly Denis,    I  also have a few more rain pools  to scatter in some of the corners, possibly a drain  that will cleverly  hide one of the joins in the boards  where I put in  my putty but has sunk slightly  - might look quite good?
