(it was replaced by the Whitley & Wellington) One of the last missions it was given was testing an early application of down looking radar in 1940... It was definitely a technology transition aircraft... By the end of WWII most strategic bombers on the allied side all had very good down looking radar for bomb aiming making them all weather bombing aircraft, The Heyford led the way... The cockpit is metal framed and the rest of it is traditional metal/wood frame and canvas. a bit of scratch building now, the upper gunner’s area and the frame for the lowered underside gun.
