So  ahead of its  time,  but  I would not  have flown in one -  its bad enough  me needing to  travel in the luggage  compartment  (lol)  When I have flown  I have had to  have an isle seat  as I suffer from a fear of heights  and vertigo, so  looking out of a window in a plane is  a Big No no.

AS well as being the last biplane bomber, it was one of the last open cockpit bombers as well.... (it was replaced by the Whitley & Wellington) One of the last missions it was given was testing an early application of down looking radar in 1940...

It was definitely a technology transition aircraft... By the end of WWII most strategic bombers on the allied side all had very good down looking radar for bomb aiming making them all weather bombing aircraft, The Heyford led the way...

Great! With some care, it should turn out a beauty. Does anybody know the reason for that 'inverted' configuration?

Cheers,

Dan

From what I read about the Heyfords, it was to give the dorsal and nose gunners  a clearer field of fire.

Making a start on the fuselage’s interior. The kit has none. And big open hatches. The cockpit is metal framed and the rest of it is traditional metal/wood  frame and canvas.

a bit of scratch building now, the upper gunner’s area and the frame for the lowered underside gun.

Somehow, I missed your build RGL. I really like what you've done to that dinosaur kit. Extra detailing and great painting skills show on that positively quirky airframe.
