HMS Agamemnon by Sjors - FINISHED - Caldercraft/Jotika - 1:64

Recommended Posts

Sjors, that looks great, very clean. Its not fair that your  gun ports come pre scored Nope! No Sir! You need to spend hours laying those puppies out. Days even.

I dont know if I can believe that is a clock, clocks only go to 12 then start over. Who ever heard of a 24 hour clock........?  :P

Thanks Sam,

I have to correct you......

There are only 12 gun ports at the top that are pre-cut....

The rest ( 56 ) I have to cut them myself  :(

And the clock with the 24 hour system is only available in Holland  :P  :P

Ok I feel better now. Your clock goes to 24?? Now I know how you get so much done.

Are you planning on using nails on your planking all the way up the frames? They look very fragile, how will you get a nail in there without breaking them?

Thank Draggz and Grant,

@ Grant,

It looks if it is going fast but.....a lot of planking !

After that sanding and filling and sanding and filling.

By the time I finished that Mobbsie his Aggy is ready to sail !

@ Sam.

I wish my clock had a time of 48 hours.....

Then i can do more !  :P

I'm using nails to hold the plank on to the hull.

And because I have placed the inner bulwarks there is enough strength on the frames.

Just as solid as a rock !

Thanks Ben and Patrick,

It goes slow at the moment.

1 plank at the time...maybe 2 each day !

And that only for the weekend, tomorrow at work again .

Before you think that I have doing nothing.....wrong !

A small update on the first planking.

It need a little touch up but that's for when the first planking is all done.

I go now to the middle to see how it goes to the stern.

There is a strange angle so I have to see how that goes.

And I have to reduce the sternpost from 5 mm to 1 mm.....

Otherwise problems with the coppering .

But, enough talk ,time for pictures.

Very nice planking Sjors.  Looking at your first picture it looks like you have cut a rabbet but its not clear, if so how did you cut it?  I had started my Snake before I found this site and didn't realize you needed to do this....next time though I will.

Cheers,

Jason

Great to see your progress and a terrific job to boot.

Do they call for tapering the stem at all?  Just curious.

Not only are you a master at rigging and ratlining, but also a master a planking.  Nice work, Sjors.

Thank you all again  :D  :D

@ Jason

I have not make a rabbet .

Just glue the planks and hold them with two clamps.....

I think it's a compliment that you are saying this ?

@ Augie,

They don't tell me to tapering the stem at all.....

I'm just doing what I think it should be right......

Maybe wrong but ok, it works so far  :D

@ Mark,

I reach not the level that you have but I'll doing my best !

And don't forget....I have a few 1000 examples how it should be !

And still learning from you guy's and girls !

At the moment I'm doing things a little different.

I wanted to start planking from the middle but I don't.

I begin at the false keel and work to the top.

Because the stern part has a strange angle I want to see how it goes when I reach the top.

Then I can " play " with the planks.

And then for the people who are thinking that my work room is to clean....

Don't look now !

It's one big mess with all the saw dust around !
