Deck fittings

This is one of your better work's Greg then maybe it's the subject matter not one often seen at least by me.

So the deck and fittings are pretty much finished, the cage arials and other rigging to go them the railings and the torpedo net booms and their rigging.

Hard to pick but this is the radio antennae. Attempt 5 today. When I did it years ago it worked well but I’ve always wanted them slack. So very thin wire in the centre and denier lines on the outer. This is pretty much the hardest part of the build

That's a pretty good rendition of the swell on a mild day on the North Sea.... (10 to 12ft)

 

Now to duplicate the greyish black-blue of the water...

Just stumbled into your log Greg. With a bit of time, I will read the entire thread about how your masterpiece was made. I´m sure, there´s a lot to learn in it. Your Dreadnought looks fantastic overall and I couldn´t imagine, how difficult the antenna rigging was.

Yep Radio aerials are never taut, especially in the beginnings of wireless.... The copper wire was just plain too soft, they would break under their own weight if stretched too tight... By the time WWII came around they had switched to aluminum wire for aerials, much much stronger, they could actually pull them almost straight...

 

I have a headache from trying to figure out how he did it without making a tangled mess...
