Today I received my carriages,  had to make a bit of an alteration ,  a quick nip at the top and the all looked the same.

The Admiral  figure is fantastic.  I have to figure out what to call the little fellow.  But I like him. Pile is a bit more Irish,  he was going to join the Navy once, but they told him he would have to cut his hair and shave. He laughed for 6 weeks after that request. 20240910_193248.thumb.jpg.7831b91a19e376880cf27ff7dcf75418.jpg

Goober got a job in the parts department,  and Pile now has to order though him lol.

Started making the masts, but I am done for the night so, I put it all away on the mast board and shelf it. 20240910_194400.thumb.jpg.6fa0632a6121b785e0c22c24b984cb43.jpg

I may go figure painting  though, the new Adrmrial wants to look the part. Just waiting for a few things to arrive.  And I have to replace two rope coils, I found them to large,  so redoing them.

Thanks everyone,  today special thanks go's to @Glenn-UK his posting (check out his log , it is fantastic) on how he made his masts  just click the switch on for me. Thanks for posting my friend.  All though I don't have a leath , I can putty and fix things pretty good. Lol.

Another happy MSW/NRG member.

ok on to the mast, there is a whole lot of details here, more fun

I put together the Foremast,  don't shake the table nothing is glued. Took the picture,  then put it all away. As PFCGP,  has said we have two cannons to rig, let's get to it Shell we.

So on to rigging the last two cannons,  plus a lot more sanding coming up with the masts.  Pile is getting uppity  about how much time I am spending painting figures.  Now he hears there is plans for a ferris wheel,  in his Irish accent he said

Hack, man did Don Keith Oaty kick you in the head, you don't kin what your doing. Pay attention to the task at hand. Lol. Yeah I know,  back to the shipyard,  oh wait I never left lol.

Good bye.

Cannons Pile says Cannons, now if you please, the Royal Gaurd,  An Admiral, a  Comander, a lieutenant , and two crew. All painted this morning, Army Speed paint, I really like this stuff. A bit of thouch ups   because of shakey painter syndrome  lol, but they will be fine.

All that is missing is the Duchess herself, but I am working on it.

Wow Pile is impatient for Cannons,  I better go "getter"done.

Well the cannons are finally done. The Admiral gave it the once over ,and said they were exceptable. Time to rig the last two cannons and install them.

Now that all the cannons are finished,  I thought it would be a good idea to go back over the instructions and see what I missed or left till later.

As it turn out, I was missing some small cleats the windlass Pawls and several eyebolts, plus the rope for the ship's bell. I installed everything but the bell rope

With that I am now making the masts , and starting to serve some lines for the shrouds.  Serving will definitely take some time to get it right , but I got all the time in the world to learn.

But now PFC Gnomer Pile and his cousin Goober are taking the Duchess for a little trip, they told me to take some time off and see you when we get back.lol.forced time off lol.

Thanks everyone for following along,  I really enjoy MSW/NRG,

So I will  be back soon enough my freinds,  so long for now .

She is not painted yet,  also she not here yet lol. My good and talented friend @Gabek  has this waiting for me to pick up. She even looks like she given the Adrmrial the look. Lol  I got something for him as well:D, but we will h0ave to wait. Ya the big old Covid truck parked it's self here at the shipyard the whole crew got it.

They had a great time sailing,  said it's eazy when you have Gnomer  Pile finger power. Lol.

So I did a little more stepping  of the masts, just a bit,  but going to have to shut it down again.  Oh well give me more time to look around for rigging info.20240923_143203.thumb.jpg.3c21c3261f869bb6bc87e74ad7806ef4.jpg

Well finally. It has been  a ruff couple of months,to say the least. Got the covid cleared up, but managed to rip some tendos and stretch the ligaments in my left leg.  Then fell into a mass depression.  It sucks so time to put the big boy pants on a get back at her.

I started serving  some lines for the shrouds, but that is going to take a little practice to get it just right for me. I done several lines and they are starting to look good. Serving and seizing will slow things down but at least I am moving  lol.

I got my Duchess of Kingston figure ready to paint but  I have lots to do on the ship first.

Hopefully it won't take me so long to post again. We will see, the first Mate went to see her sisters for a week so I should be able to get some building done while she gone lol  😆

Lower deadeyes on the portside went fairly well.  I used a onion skin paper and taped it to the side of the ship and drilled the holes.  It went well ☺️ some touch ups but minor. 20241123_141607.thumb.jpg.10d2b9ffbc239ab870fc10a333ebbd85.jpg

There is a lot of work to do just on the bowsprit, and the spritsail yard has foot  ropes a first time for me for these .

It is really nice to be in the shipyard, I never realized how much ship building  has become increasingly part of my life, it is therapeutic  because I feel a whole lot better today then  yesterday 😊.  I can't wait for tomorrow 😀 😊

I finished the bowsprit, just have the line to put on under the block . It is 500mm long natural tread. I left it off because I didn't want to get it tangled up, it is easy to add it later. Now I will build the spritsail yard.

It will be my first time for making footropes. I am looking forward to the process. :D.1000006647.thumb.jpg.490d0e78ee919e3b39f2e68de810a54a.jpg

1000006649.thumb.jpg.e69fa2abccbc5a0e090141ed9fc169c7.jpg

After I get the spritsail yard finished, I am going  to finish the foremast and its yards. I have broken the mast tip for the foremast three Times . Pile finally said Leave it off till we block it and do the yards for it

So that's my way of thinking.  Finish each mast and yard  then move on to the main and mizzen mast. I have know idea what I will do after that , but that is going to be in awhile so lots of time to decide

20241126_140436.thumb.jpg.9b86d8362f23098db8c11a7e1d198667.jpg

20241126_140746.thumb.jpg.86417e00e0f689b687f2ce41ed8e3ad3.jpg

20241126_140702.thumb.jpg.7e6774c0bf11586681cd8a73ea4565a3.jpg

So this time I am going to pin the mast tip on, then block it and make the yards.

Time will tell how long this will take, but so happy to be building again. Except breaking the tip off on a daily basis  lol. The masts and yards look pretty much straight forward, and when that is all finished it will be time for shrouds and RATLINES.  I getting excited  😊.  It has been  months scenic I tied a ratline.. Maybe I should fly down to @Glen McGuire and get my fix, 17,000  a shiver  is running down my back whooo.

Progress is slow, been spending  time on other  Duchess of Kingston  logs, most are finished but not marked but they are all fantastic.  Looking at those logs I know I will be able to pull this off. Some words are hard to understand but a picture is worth a thousand words, so they say.

Another thing slowing the progress is @Keith Black. I have been learning about river boats and how they steer.  I have been Google in pictures  all morning  lol.

PFC G. Pile is screaming for  work to continue 🙃. I agree  lol back to the fun. Thank you everyone for the help, she going to be a beautiful ship.

Thanks MSW,  Knocklouder.

It has been  months scenic I tied a ratline.. Maybe I should fly down to @Glen McGuire and get my fix,

I think Michigan is somewhere between you and Austin, so you might as well grab @Keith Black on your way and bring him down here to the ratline party.
