  1. I just found your build log and you are doing a wonderful job so far on this beautiful and interesting model. Have you been able to make any more progress?
  2. Given the high quality of your other machines, I'd bet that a Byrnes mill would be popular with modelers.
  3. That's a very nice model! I love San Francisco and my son works in the city. I think I'd like to build this model.
  4. This is fantastic, Tom! Building the Medway Longboat was a breakthrough experience in ship modeling for me. I love the look of it with the sails and now, with the help of your tutorial, I plan to try and put sails on mine. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this tutorial!
  5. Indeed!! I hope you will start a build log of this historic ship.
  6. I just caught up on your build, Andy, and your POB is looking really good. She has such beautiful lines and I love the colors too. Great job!
  7. Geez...what a bummer. I hope she heals well and quickly. Oh the things we'll do for our furry, best friends! My wife and I were hiking recently in the mountains outside of Tucson, Arizona, with my brother-in-law and his wife. My sister-in-law slipped on a rock crossing a stream and broke her fibula down by her ankle. We had to call for a rescue since she could not bear weight on her leg and it was too painful for her when we tried to assist her to hop along on one leg. The Tucson Volunteer Mountain Rescue Group were fantastic in getting her out. Fortunately, she didn't require surgery, just a boot for 8 weeks.
  8. Occre has released a long awaited model of Shackleton's Endurance: https://modelshipworld.com/topic/28377-endurance-by-occre-170-scale/
  9. I thought the same thing when I was building my Medway Longboat by Syren and Chuck told me that "it's not too late to start a build log." So I went ahead and started a belated build log. It turned out to be the best thing I could have done since I got so much good advice and encouragement form fellow modelers. So I'd say go ahead and start a build log. You'll be able to ask questions and get great advice as needed and it will help keep you motivated to finish your ship. Good luck!
  10. Absolutely beautiful, Ekis, and a testament to your outstanding craftsmanship. The clinker hull is fantastic and the paint and weathering are wonderful for a boat of this era. Congratulations!
  11. Thanks for the tip on the nail polish. I have generally used just a tiny spot of CA to get a hard, quick set on knots but it has its drawbacks since it dries shiny and will darken lighter colors of rope.
  12. Great work and build log as always, Glenn! You're writing the Cheerful Build Log Bible for anyone who would like to build this model or just plain learn a lot about model ship building. I have a problem with dust since I work in a small room. I try to do as much sanding as possible outside because of the dust but that's not always possible. Which model of Rabbit Air do you have? I've never thought about using one of those small air purifiers for dust control. I always thought they were just for smaller particles like allergens etc. Does it remove most of the dust from your modeling area?
