I just found your build, Tim, and it's fantastic. You did a wonderful job on the planking and your painting and staining is outstanding. Given the high quality of your work here, I would love to see some photos of your other ship models too.

Fantastic work, Amalio!

I just completed reading through your build log, BranPie. You're doing a very nice job and your planking looks good especially for your first time. You can lightly sand the entire hull carefully to smooth it out a bit. Then add filler to any areas that need it and sand it again to get is completely smooth and symmetrical. Take care not to sand through the planks though. I've done that and it isn't easy to fix! Good luck.

I just got caught up with your build log, Daniel, and you are doing a great job especially considering that this is your first wooden ship model. She's going to be a beauty!

Wow, Erik, she's absolutely beautiful! Congratulations on building such a fine model. You've done her and Chris Watton proud! I have this model and, after watching you and BE build her, I think she may well be the next model in line for me. I'll be bringing up the rear though since the two of you have set the bar so high...

Mike, I think you have established yourself as the CEO of The Wooden Ship Model Rescue Organization! It's always fun to see what models you have given new life to... -
The 1959 book, Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing, is a gripping tale of survival and I have been hoping that someone would make a kit of the Endurance. There are so many wonderful ship models with fascinating histories and I'm happy to see that Occre has made a kit for the Endurance. I'll have to add this one to the queue.

Great work, Glenn, and a wonderfully informative build log as well! What is the tool with the different diameters that you are using in the photo of you forming your hooks and eyelets?

I just got caught up on your build of this beautiful model, BE, and, of course, you're doing an exceptionally fine job as usual. This build has been on my radar ever since I first saw it a few years ago. So I'm onboard for the journey. I've been on a prolonged hiatus from ship modeling of late. Playing guitar and photography have taken center stage for me recently and, now that my wife and I are fully vaccinated, we are on an extended road trip in the southern California and Arizona. I'm afraid I've become an "armchair ship modeler" for the time being but excellent build logs like yours get me excited to get back to modeling again. Good luck!

Ships vs Boats
BobG replied to Mike from Aus's topic in How to use the MSW forum - **NO MODELING CONTENT**
When I think of a ship I always think of a large vessel. What's the dividing line between a ship and a boat by definition? -

Did the nails come with the kit or did you use something else? I love the colors you have selected. What did you use to stain the wood? Did you put a clear coat over the stained wood? Wonderful work, Ekis!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
