  1. Chris, I like your topic, it has a familliar ring to it ... can't place it though Very nice kit for the price you've got it for, that bit of additional work is worth the "discount"
  2. Actually manage to do something today. Not much folding but a little bit of this, and a little bit of that ... Neither the tower, nor the funnel are glued yet I'll try to get some better pictures with daylight tomorrow
  3. Hadn't thought about the rubber cemen part ... Now that would be a challenge indeed, but you could peel it of partly, and than use the carbonpaper ... Your current method is quicker though
  4. Russ, Looks promising. You could have used carbonpaper for the line, at least, that was my initial thought. Cheers
  5. Michael, Stunning, all the effort well spent I have to say. Do you really need to solder all the stanchions to the wire. I would have thought fixing them at intervals would suffice, even with CA. You wouldn't run the risk heating up the paint at the foot of the stanchion, creating some additional paint work. Cheers
  6. You can still register those ?... i.e. imperfections. It is hard enough to see the item, let alone its finish, or one of the subparts. Still I'm glad you are at it again! P.s. love the workbench
  7. Quite the jeweller you are Nils. Some exceptional fine work on those rings. If you have a film of CA in between the brass and aluminum, the chance of the elctro chemical corosion is nill. As water is a requirement as a transport medium, and I presume you are going to paint the funnel, I wouldn't use acrylic paints on them.
  8. Jeff, Marvelous work, I'm glad you build at a scale you can still get something on screen with the aid of a camera. Cheers
  9. Nice one Pat, With PE it seems not to be "yours is bigger " but "you've got sometin' I don't, an' I wannit" To be honest, there are some improvements on the tool of Greg's kit, I would like to see in my kit ...
  10. Thanks Piet. Nice of you to pass by, considering your busy schedule. Give my regards to Gwen! Hello Pat, To think it will look even better if I get it on right. These are the larger pieces, some fiddly bits to come, like the windows for the admiral's bridge. One thing is certain, you really need to look forward, and not put everything on at once, for you'll get yourself into trouble. The Fly Hawk PE's manual is a bit hard to read, and not always a practical sequence Evening Greg, Which one, the top item? Mark, I could say that about your Licorne too. Don't tell but what you see is 5 hours toll ... it takes a lot of time to get things done with PE at this scale, I wonder how some of those blokes manage at even smaller scales!!
  11. What's in a few inches of armour ... I see you used white primer (or is it very light grey), any particular reason? I woud have expected a darker shade. It seems you have gotten quite a steady hand, when I look at the lines. Stanchions and wire. Again a bold decision. When I look how I've been struggling to get the pre-made railing on, I am very curious on your result, and the difficultie(s) you've encountered. On the other hand, you've already made a few lengths. Cheers
  12. Johann, It is a real pleasure to see your updates on your build, especially when you are working with brass.
  13. As I had to wait for fine grain sandpaper, I started on the other part of the super structure. Current status in image format and some more brass handywork ...
  14. Hope you feel better soon. I know about the teeth, and the smoking too. Neither will be easy (mentally) so I wish you strength and perseverance. Good luck with the search!
  15. Nice, Mike. You'll get on either easily, or with great difficulty MAybe something in between ... in the end I know you'll manage
  16. YankeeD, tartane, Perhaps you could verify your links before posting! Niether one of them works
  17. So no fat lady singing yet ... We still are in for some more treats. Looking forward to those, Elijah!
  18. Auch, I'll just silently disappear in a very dark corner ........ on an uninhabited isl in a far, far away galaxy
