Sorry to hear about Judy, but good to hear she's improving, give her my best wishes. Take care driving though!!! I'm enjoying the build of that skylight tremendously!!! It does look stunning ... the nice thing about an 'end product', people can't see those oops moments, they just see that marvelous build ...

It's a miracle you've got it finished in such a short time, with all the side builds, restorations a.o. Turned out magnificent!!! Cheers

Wow, I had some serious catching up to do. I've been reading through my lunch break, which now has become a Pilot Cutter break! Great progress again, and such astonishing detail, not as usual, for it is unsually good! ... yes they do don't they ... which flaws were you refering to? Cheers,

Cees, Have a look at Brian's log http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/10768-half-moon-by-probablynot-corel-scale-150-wood/page-8#entry351332 -
Mark, Looking good, whichever try it is. Charmed or not, you're up to a good start with it, which, to me, is the best motivator!!

Mobbsie, Very nice work on the mortar. I'll stick to enjoying your and Grant's build ... safer and so far I know my construction limits. I just might pose an idea ... couldn't you use a mould for the guns ... something more (or less) like this ... You would be able to turn the same shape multiple times ...

Mark, Nice job on the carving. You could cut out the letters and glue them on another piece of wood if you wanted more height and better access to the crannies and nooks in the letters ... looking at the result, you hardley need the height ... it stands out pretty well on it's own!!! There we need a sharpening steel Druxey ... a common kitchen utensil ! Comes in mighty handy in modelbuilding ... Which means ... trial and error ... toss the ones which are ruined after sharpening and buy a new one ... which is sharp like a rasor on arrival, and doesn't need sharpening (saves a lot of time sharpening too! ) Cheers

The more you got to the exterior the more you had me wondering how on earth you were going to 'clamp' those last deck planks ... Eventhough you are building at scale, the ease you progress does not show it. Marvelous ...

Impressive start, and nice 'toolkit'. I like those western river paddle wheelers, so I'll be along for the 'ride'.

Stunning, Siggi. Marvelous job on the wheels and the spokes, can't wait for the handles!!!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
