  1. Sail away mate, if you need to speed arrival up, then you can do the last bit by taking off with a plane - if those are ready in time.
  2. That looks lovely ... ship's boats slung out ... hmmm, ready to abandon ship ...
  3. Glad you are back in one piece Tony It is always a pleasure to see how you managed on the bumpy road. Yet again a great tutorial. Looks maarvelous. The card one doesn't look bad at all, especially not for someone who has not worked with card before.
  4. Which mescherschmits? I presume the Junkers will be Stukas Ju 87 ... THe carrier looks quite used, so congrats on that. Very realistic, even for a ship which in reality has never sailed.
  5. Looks pritty much finished. I read somewhere the masts weren't so much rusty as they would be quite grimey, especially the one aft I would presume, considering the deposit of fumes
  6. Every once in a while we need a thumbs up, that's the way to stay motivated, and finish our build. It's not as easy as we sometimes think ourselves when we start a new build. I know I will have a hard time getting my current build done, the PE will be giving me screwed eyes and splitting headaches. Without the visitors giving advice it would be hard, but those whom give moral support are even more important, even the practical jokes have their moments You are doing fine, keep it up. If you feel the dark creepin' up on you, you can always paint her pink ...
  7. Take care OC, I'll see you around at different build logs, and will be waiting untill you pick up the pace on Pearl. You'll be fine soon enough
  8. Thanks, Denis. Backwards is progress too I would say ... depends on how you look at things
  9. LIfe sometimes take precedence, Nenad. Good to know you are still amongst us, although "divided". Hope your lady leaves you enough time for the intricacies of rigging Take care
  10. Thanks Sam, another little bit. I've finished the "seams" at the top of the bow running back. Started on the forward swinging boom. When I was looking for the parts, it already screwed me eyeballs !!! the boom itself is 3.7cm (just over 1.5") long ... go figure, I get a splittin' headache from the Musashi guns, what will this give me ... I found an image which is easier on the eyes, than the one I've got for the build instructions The second boom, the stowed one is even smaller, but has the same nice little parts to it. Ken, if you start her, you are in for some fiddly bits ... Grant me strength
  11. What do you want to look at? A partly weathered ship, e.g. a weathered hull and clean, crisp, new looking deck and super structures (or vice versa) or an entire weathered build. You are the one looking at it, and you need to ask yourself if you can live with the one or the other ...
  12. That ... that is all up to you. Consider what you want to establish and what would hence be appropriate. E.g. you weather the hull, would you, or wouldn't you weather the deck (super)structures?
  13. Bill, The fittings are sometimes refered to as furniture by modellers, eventhough they know it is wrong. Besides ... furniture is not just to sit on ...
  14. It looks real enough mate, just missing the crash trails ... or weren't crashes allowed on German carriers?
  15. Steve, It'll probably be the light or a reflexion. Take her outside and have another look. If it is still there, it is the paint. White paint can give a yellowish sheen, depending on the type of white used, e.g. cadmium white has that tendency. The "Smit Nederland" I built was weighted with lead slabs, the batteries were lead too and were good for most of the required ballast
  16. Gettin' old? You did a lot faster on Yamato! That's some serious PE on the masts, mate.. Must have been a real joy to bend and construct!
  17. did you make a hole in the keel of the life boats, so water which may accumulate in them can get out ...? Yes, I know, I am somewhat tardy (could be the age)
  18. A bit late, but you can only sparcely use the PE for the new tool. The wooden deck won't fir, turrents have changed considerably, but the barrels you can use as well as the blast bags. Lets put it this way: Everything which is part of the structural elements, deck, super structure, hanger, etc is not usable. All loose parts like barrels, AA guns (not all) are mostly usable. I base this on the Pontos PE for the new tool I got for Musashi instead of the PE for the old tool I needed. The PE for the new tool is very nice though ...
