If you had not pointed it out Jim, I think most would not have noticed the alignment of light and beak Nice work (again). cheers Pat

Nice work on this project Denis; I have just read through and it seems it had its challenges. I had the pleasure of being aboard this vessel for about a week (on and off) as the Liaison guy for her visit to Australia for one of our national milestone celebrations - brought back some great memories. cheers Pat

You are absolutely right there Jan; let's see if our scrap hungry neighbours will stay away? cheers Pat

The purpose of the search, as with HMAS Sydney, was to find the crew and resolve the mystery of her demise. Other than to photograph her with the intention to determine how she was sunk, I believe the intention is to leave her in her resting place - she is afterall a war-grave. "Eternally on patrol" Pat

Many thanks Karl, I will have to look around for a few; they look very handy. cheers Pat -
I think you nailed the difference - according to Wiki: Rowing is the act of propelling a boat using the motion of oars in the water, displacing water, and propelling the boat forward. The difference between paddling and rowing is that rowing requires oars to have a mechanical connection with the boat, while paddles are hand-held and have no mechanical connection. Semantics anyway your skeleton is taking shape! cheers Pat

Nice work as usual Ben; I love the colour combination of the woods. cheers Pat

Great to see you back in the dockyard John, a great start. I am of the same mindset with jigs, they do not need to be complicated, or even pretty - just effective. Yours seems to very efficient for the task at hand and even looks good cheers Pat

Thanks for reposting Karl, ever so glad you persisted as that is stunning workmanship to behold - nice joinery! You set a very high standard I like those clamps you use; I have not seen the likes before; are they commercial; or home made? regards Pat -

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
