  1. That;s a beautiful belt of wales, Remco. I could have told you the trunnels would disappear under the merciless staining of Fiebings. I've tried using a lighter wood like holly for the treenails to see if there would be a difference but all turns out uniformly black.
  2. A agree. She's a beauty. The hull plating is very well done.
  3. Looking good, Alan. Try one with the Byrnes saw, as we provide extra material. Use the fence to make the near cut on three sides. Then adjust the fence to do the far cut on all sides. After that, nibble out the remaining portion. It's fast and virtually foolproof
  4. For those who (like myself) often have small areas left by blackening that did not take, perhaps this product may help: https://www.birchwoodcasey.com/Cleaning-and-Maintenance/Super-Black%E2%84%A2-Touch-Up-Pen.aspx Worth a try...or maybe it's just a cleverly disguised Sharpie!
  5. Narim's Pandora, one of the sweetest models I've ever seen, does not depict the rabbet step. See http://forum.modelsworld.ru/topic8068.html
  6. Very impressive, Gaetan!. Um...is that folding chair supporting the model?
  7. You've been gone too long Pete.Welcome back and I look forward to updates of your truly excellent model.
  8. That is a stunning cross-section, Rusty. The fit and finish of every detail is perfect. Congratulations!
  9. For those you who enjoyed the National Maritime Museum's first publication The Sailing Frigate check out the next volume in their series The Ship of the Line: History in Ship Models. Looks like another winner. Pre-order from Amazon.com if you like: http://www.amazon.com/Ship-Line-History-Models/dp/1848322143/ref=sr_1_14?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1398638747&sr=1-14&keywords=ship+model
  10. Well, you certainly could do it for money, Mark. Beautifully executed.
  11. Great website, Karl! Love the organization and all the photos.
  12. Beautifully done, Remco. I'm about to raise the stern timbers on my Speedwell and I've a modified jig of my own I'll be using. I don't see how this can be done precisely without one.
  13. She's looking beautiful, Mark!
  14. That's a very clever way to do this piece Danny. The tafferel and coves gave me no end of headaches.
  15. Lovely work, Michael. It's hard to believe we're not looking at the full-sized vessel.
  16. Mortising in those plates show your commitment to perfection. It's not like you can replace the stern post if you screw up the mortise. Congratulations on completing Volume 1.
  17. It's terrific to see more regular updates from you Alex. Always a treat! Greg
  18. Just one transom redo is well ahead of the curve, Ben. Beautifully done!
  19. Remco, there are no words...but perfecton comes to mind.
  20. Yes, Jim's machines are great and the service is excellent and blah blah blah but...I want a Byrnes featherboard v.1 too!
  21. You've been busy, Karl. Amazing work, as usual!
  22. Very beautiful work and nice sectional model. I don't know that I could have divided that lovely, fully framed hull though!
  23. Precision work, as usual. Remco. I'm wondering how you are adding the cabin partitions off the ship as they must (and do in your photos) fay into the planked and unplanked sections of the frames.
  24. Just curious Karl. Your work so far, including cast cannon barrels, is some of the nicest I've ever seen. Did you have a specific purpose for the lathe in mind?
