what?????.....oh, right..........the movie choices. now gents.......there's nothing wrong with a chick flic every now and then :D in reality, I don't remember even watching those movies........but I do have the anniversary edition for 'Dirty Dancing' I'm more of a war and horror buff myself...........I like comedy too, but if it fringes to far into the void, I leave it for the admiral and my oldest son to watch. I could have dubbed in some Robin Williams........... 'Birdcage'......and 'the world according to Garpp'. I thought he did a great 'Popeye' as well :D life has been 'interesting' around here {at home} of late..... my builds have suffered a little......but I have managed to vent in other ways

oh, no Andy.......we think it's cool, your out there on that 'steel Island' of yours :D :D you betcha.......we want you back! I'm sure everyone wants to see how the 'love story' with Peg pans out.......your almost ready to hit new 'withering heights' with that build above all.........it will be good to have you back safe and sound

you seem to already have a good game plan.........sounds like a good choice. .............how can I say this, without getting bombarded by fruit........... the Swift has more of a bash factor. yes, there's a lot of information out there on them, but in my mind, the Bluenose is more of a replica build than the swift. I think you'd also have an easier time of it. good luck with your getting back into the hobby....start with the swift. I'm going to duck now..........I'll peek from time to time. good luck !

WOW bud! sorry to hear of all the set-backs.......life can be pretty mean sometimes. again.......very sad to hear of your loss, your admiral is going to need all the comfort you can muster. us, here at the wharf, send our regard. when everything settles down.......you can get back to the hobby.........no rush. perhaps you picked it back up to soon....heart and mind wasn't in it. remember that the hobby is a progressive art.........it takes time. I'm no expert..........I just keep in mind that there's always paint......or a second planking. whatever I can do to achieve what I want to do. just take your time.........make progress when you can, I'll look forward in seeing it when time allows. take care and I wish you well.

I'm sure that all this effort can be seen through the opening in the spar deck, when you go topside........ it looks very life-like....no two cannons are in the same position.......active realism. nicely done!

I still envy you Mark........not having to worry about the 'grind' anymore. with the way my 'work' is set up, I have four days to devote to my builds {when it's possible}. I hope that when your 'smoke' clears.......you'll find more time for your build. thanks Ron.........yepper.....moving back to the Goth, but too many thing are cropping up with the holidays and home life to put any distance on things. what I've done with the Half Moon put me on a different spin..........making me want to bash the rest, rather than follow the kit build. I think it will be for the better though. the Goth is easy, I'm rigging....and back to it I go. with the way things are going....I think it's going to get a lot busier at the wharf. thanks as well Kimberly..........welcome to the insanity. yes, the wharf is a very busy place.....but I enjoy it, and have found working with wooden ships, a whole lotta fun. recent happenings here, are pointing the wharf to get a bit busier.......you'll find out about it soon {I hope}

what you have Brian, is a kit from an early production. they seem to stop production, when the supply is large, and restart it again when the stock is near depleted. of course, this also means that the instructions can change, if the kit goes through any modifications in the process. you might see better diagrams and stuff, but with how many Billing's kit I've built in the past, it's a safe bet that you won't see much improvement. they are, in my opinion, great kits to bash, adding in details that may not be in the kit in the first place. I've come to understand their instructions, and with a little research, very easy to expand on. is that kit laser cut?

that's what I see as well........a loop tied under the crow's nest and caps, in which the shrouds are passed through. are there any tabs or hooks on the dead eyes? if not, could you drill a hole, large enough to pass the thread through? on your instructions, I do see something that looks like a tab.

wonderful work on your ships Sjors........I see your getting into the yard rigging.....that's great! they looks great together......the colors and finishes are very well done.

now, your going to be home for an extended period this time around.........I believe you mentioned this earlier. this will give you the time to put the finish to Peg {I'm pulling for you big guy}, and then you can start those projects you've been wanting to do......especially that bulk carrier {can't wait to see that one in the works}. you really got my mind going about that........I even took an assessment of my paint supply......I have plenty of International Orange {evil grin}

your work is superb as always.....glad to see you found some time to get back to the cutter. so, you got snow already......is it staying? we haven't had any yet........it's been cold enough to support it. we might even see some before thanksgiving.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
