this is kinda unique.........this type of outer framework. did you gouge the outer surface of the hull yourself? you would have done well to use Obechi.......it's already done for you. I use basswood quite a bit.......but I have gotten some kits where this wood is used. it's very hard to sand all of the imperfections out of it. you've done very well to give her the 'hewn' look. at what stage of the assembly did you get her? keep up the good work

nice repair Adam. I have a shelf in the hallway where I keep the builds I have in progress.......then, of course, I have the two tables as well........works well to keep these sort of things from happening. when the Goth hit the floor........well, that was my own clumbsiness I glad it wasn't more serious

nice bit of progress Piet.........too bad that section can't be located to the port side, and make another one for the starboard {just to make it easier......cut out the repair problem nice repair of the deck.
-
very nice work on the copper tiles.........gouing to give a nice look to your hull. If I were to vote, I would pick the semi flattened ones......on the actual ship hull, they would probably be indented slightly, so the round of the rivets would not be as prominant. whatever you choose good sir, would look good

nice work on the beads and gaff.....look forward in seeing her with some color

dispite the failure part.........you've given me some insight. I have been using my decal maker to produce decorations and designs for my ships........the biggest problem is the transparency issue. I have seen what Dafi has been doing with his Victory builds......he has produced some photo etch as well.........I wondered how he might have done this. this might be it! thanks for showing this.......I'm sure the admiral will jump for joy as well, when I push to get one of these I won't mention your name, I promise! besides........failure is part of getting better at it, isn't it?

comodore Sjor, is so much more is so very chatty, and could drink you to the floor some folks say he can stick it ayway 1/2 pint 'o whiskey every day Aristotle, Aristotle was a beggar for the bottle 'an awefully fond of his ram 'an Winsdale Scott was a drunk'in phart I drink..... therefore I am! {edited excert from "the philosopher's drink song" by Monty Python} example: F = PH cunningly funny! thanks Frank...........only 188 more to go! I'd have something on the Goth, but I've run into technical difficulties with the Half Moon, and I'm working to resolve it.......more on that at Eleven I have to get the main mast in order now anyway........gotta be able to do the lower fore stays, before I can finish the shrouds. I'm so happy to be rigging.........thanks for the good word I always thought that 'flip flop' was a universal term!
-
I sometimes wish I had done it this way as well...........trying to feed the shroud lines in between the masts is a bit trying. it also is tempting to rig higher up the mast, which can make it harder to run other rigging on the next mast. well.......I'm just glad to be doing 'some rigging', as I'm sure you are as well Andy. again........wonderful progress your making.......can't wait to see more

I think you were speachless Kevin........I get that way sometimes when I see something this awesome! you'd be cheating yourself Augie, if you didn't build another ship about the case.........I have heard horror stories about the use of glass.......lots of folks use the plexi glass. I forget what they call that certain type, but there is some out there that resists scratches. is this something you've thought about?

I know what you mean Wayne.......nothing wrong with a little banter now that I've gotten through with my work week, I can work some more on the Goth and get some more pictures up. I've been looking over the pictures again........mainly at the brace riggings. I need to tie on some more blocks.....it won't too hard though. then the mis ship needs some work.....things I want to add. more progress soon I call them flip flops as well.........Gibbs calls them chew toys though, so I have to keep an eye on them. lately, I've been having to keep an eye out for under our bed........seems to be his hide out crazy dog!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
