  1. "is your name not Bruce?" "no, it's Micheal...." "that's gonna cause a bit 'o confusion.........mind if we call ya Bruce, to keep it clear?" I did that on the phone one time...........life's funny moments
  2. I went with #3 as well.......although the mixed got me thinking. #3 down just past the wales, then go to a darker, more brackish color by adding a blackish wash to it, before the bottom hull color, or copper
  3. another bit of nautical information......done in stunning detail........I like it! great job!
  4. m'lady.......laser cut parts? I'm in awe.......do you have someone doing that for you? ......or do you have a broken kit? I've been using the parts panel punchouts as templates for some of my scratch work. I still have to cut them out though.
  5. .......you mean like the guy in California, who burried caddys nose first in the sand? hee....hee..........and he called it art
  6. splendid job Mobbsie..............that's a lot od real estate to cover!
  7. it'll be interesting what change you made.......it was such a good job to begin with.........
  8. just a temporary thing......hate to hear about the look on your face when it goes snap. perls are harder to find than blocks. your doing a great job, Ron
  9. yes Bob........we can go sailing now! thank you my friend! thanks J.P. and adeline.......thanks for looking in and you good words. all of you fine folks made this build so enjoyable! thank a lot!
  10. thanks Patrick.......they are a nice kit. there are a couple of things you'll want to change, but it does come to be a nice looking build. thanks for the good word
  11. just dropped in to say hello..........noticed it's been awhile....is all OK?
  12. thanks Anja, Sherry and Sjors. the admiral is such a good soul....she really loves what I do. when she heard my elation, she came over to look at her.......commented on how nice she looked. then, with three other hulls on the tables, she asked me if I had another one to work on...........I should have said no
  13. wow.......I guess subject matter was poor back then.........and a gosspil song no less! LOL! the boys got a big kick out of it though....swear to god they were dancing on a tin roof!
  14. bassically, the only things left to do is to finish the anchors, and rig the jib's lower corner. after the anchors were painted, the chain was tied on using copper thread. the same was done for the starboard side. this finishes off the build........I had some fun with this one. the kit is very well done......perhaps a little sub standard in a few areas, but tweaking them, to enhance them, added to the challenge. I also didn't want to add too much, as I did in the last couple of kit builds. thanks to everyone who looked in and commented on this build....I really appreciated it greatly
  15. I assure you.....good sirs.....that I am not a slum boss. they were in this 'condition' when I hired them. when I posted the ad for the wharf, I specified that they have some nautical background, and that they have no residual 'baggage'. this is about as 'baggage-less' as you can get.....so, I hired them.
  16. yepper Mark......they sure are! they were just hang'in around in my closet......so when I started the hobby, I putt'em to work. I don't have financial backing, so.......I could only hire a skeleton crew. from left to right.......is Larry, daryl.........and darrel {he spells his name differently, so I can tell them apart}......makes check write'in time easier too! of course, you met Chester........he like to hover over everyone, to make sure they do everything OK........... I mentioned Clara......she didn't want to get in the photo shoot.......always says her legs were her best assets. since she don't got them no more....she feels she's worthless. I keep tell'in her that she has the best clavicals of them all. hey! what can I say......she can't blush...LOL!
  17. the only big question is .........where would a guy like myself find the gears to make it?
  18. good thing they didn't send you "sloop John B".....or "dragg'in the line" wonderful work there Augie! I'll hold you to that "overall" shot! you've heard of that phrese too Robert.........who ever thought of that was ill
  19. I would have asked clara......but she was bitten in half by a great white..........so we use her for her clerical ablilities. I wouldn't have hired her, but she's Chester's half cousin........literally
