Siggi !! So far, I have been following your log in silence - and complete amazement. However, I just had to say that your paneling work is exactly the inspiration I have been looking for to re-ignite my own build. Thank you for that !! (Okay ... back to silent awe ... please continue)

anyone built San Juan Nepomuceno (moved by moderator)
CaptainSteve replied to ger.sec's topic in Wood ship model kits
If you go to the Kit Build Logs in Progress forum (from main page), then enter the name of your ship in the SEARCH field (top right), that will answer your question. I found five logs for that ship. -
I can only echo what the others are saying, Jay. Your stove looks excellent. Just be sure you don't burn your fingers working on the rest of it. (I'm still working on those tiny turkeys)

That's a really distinctive cannon base, Nigel. There's certainly no way anyone is going to confuse it with a European-built one now.

Beautiful work on your pump, Matt !! I think Tiny is in his element ... especially doing the detailing on the smaller parts. I reckon he'll come good.

Fantastic work, Jay (as always) !! Those rivets look great. I might have to put in an order to use them for the bulwark rivet detail.

Cabbie, I have "Rigging Period Ship Models", and thoroughly recommend it. As someone whose nautical knowledge barely extends past the bath-tub, I have found it invaluable in helping me picture (and tie) the rigging for my models. Almost all of this book is black & white drawings of the various sections of rigging, with scattered diagrams showing how some parts are tied. Here's a couple of random pages from the book ...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
