NIls, Nice update. Nice rigging work as well. Thanks for the large format pics. helps to see your level of detail. Michael

Roger, Buck thanks for your very nice thoughts they are very appreciated. Its encouraging to also learn from other builders here at MSW. Cheers, Michael

Lawrence, Thanks for your kind comments. No Chuck does not include a drill bit. I needed to enlarge all the holes, as I mentioned in the previous post. I kept the drill bit in the envelope for future reference, as needed. The blocks that are in the envelopes have not been re-drilled. Regards, Michael

Dave, Nice to see that you are back at work. Looking good. The Connie will be in dry-dock for the next 2 years, as I'm sure you know. I hope to visit her when she returns to her museum. She looked great out for her last cruise. Michael

Karl, Thanks... FYI I also used the G-S to glue the metal rings to the sides of the carriages. Worked perfectly with absolutely no visible glue marks. I had intended to use CA, but if you miss CA leaves a stain. Michael

JanV, Thanks...these are the ones I used. Note the drill bit in the envelope, all blocks were drilled a second time to enlarge the holes to allow ropes to go through. I have learned that this is a common practice to do. Not a criticism of Chuck's excellent products. Michael

Hi Mates, Installed carriages now just need to clean up the ropes. I will leave that for now and move to an other area TBD. Thanks for looking in (:-) PS: first pic, is self explanatory, but found it easy to position carriage then drill a small hole in deck for installation. MIchael

Nigel, NO I had not linked over. Thanks for the heads up, I will Google this and certainly spend much quality time looking at the work of such an amazing artist. PS: Many more than "a handful" at MSW (:-) Thanks my friend Michael

Nigel, This might be it, but this one has no interior, but the work as SO brilliant, almost not believable. Plastic no less. Be sure to scroll through ALL of the pages, as pics come back up later during the scroll. A huge treat for the eyes. The aging look is beyond words. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234929054-revell-172-type-viic41-u-boat-u995/ Michael

Daniel, Very nice project...."This time started quite easily with a large scale model of a bacteriophage on a 0,5 mm drill" ... Funny, I had to actually Google that word. Yes there is a resemblance isn't there. Cheers Michael

Theo, Super nice update. Your attention to details is so impressive. She's a beauty. PS: following your build led me to decide on building the carriages for mine, as well as rigging them correctly. I so appreciated the effort you took with your weather deck guns - they look so awesome (:-) Cheers, Michael

Karl, Most of us are waiting for the upcoming Vasa rigging bible Vasa II. Fred is hoping - by the end of this year, we shall see (:-) In any case this will be the "last word" regarding all of our rigging questions. Ulises is right check the link. Fred Hocker has listed all of the chapters that will be in the Vasa II book. Your work looks excellent by-the-way. Michael

Rodger, Been thinking about your build and found this. FYI, though I think that your build details suggest that you have good source material. But just a thought. http://www.amazon.com/Mississippi-Steamboat-Era-Historic-Photographs-ebook/dp/B00A73AQGS/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1408471778&sr=1-1&keywords=mississippi+steamboats Also available at ModelExpo Regards, Michael

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
