  1. The PE and brass looks much better, Greg. The other looks rather like a toy.
  2. Thukydides, we have some marvelous paper modelers here. Just do a keyword search (upper right hand corner of the page) and use "paper" and select "Topics" in the dropdown for your search. You'll see not only paper kits but also paper scratch builds.
  3. Hard to believe that's not brass, Grant. Super nice looking work.
  4. Brief update. I'm still planking (rather slowly it seems) but with the Sphinx coming in tomorrow, I've put the Hen away for now and spent the day cleaning up the shop and rest of the place. I'll continue to work on her while doing the Sphinx. So here's where the build is... I have about 6 more strakes to do on the hull then I can turn to the stern. She's not sanded or filled below the wale but I'm happy with her.
  5. This will be my log for the Sphinx from Vanguard Models. It's due to come in the morning. I've been gathering paints (and testing them) and some odds and ends like sand papers. Today , I'm clearing the workshop, etc. Once it's here, I'll start posting to my log. This should be a fun project and also, a bit of re-learning.
  6. That was the original use for CA according to legend. The military was first to use it.
  7. Great to see you back, Slog. You're making progress again!!!!!!!
  8. Don't worry about how long this topic is. Research is a big part of any scratch build where you have to make your own plans.
  9. Be careful, Javlin. This one is looking really nasty.
  10. Give it some time to cure out, OC. Probably 24 hours. It looks super good. I'll assume there won't be a duck in pond.
  11. Gary is right. Convert them to JPG format. HEIC is a Microsoft format and not used much on the Internet.
  12. Quite nicely done, Denis. The way it's displayed looks like it just took off or is doing a very low level flight.
  13. You're here and you're building models. Pretty close I'd say.
  14. Those tests will be interesting to see. I'm curious how well things will scale down for these tests and do assume (bad idea, I know) they won't use glue on the test targets.
  15. True on unarmed. They returned to base once all the planes were up and had formed into position. I think the crew was just the pilots, navigator, and flight mech.
  16. No worries. There a bunch of "proprietary" file types that won't open on just about any web site.
  17. For other woods for framing instead of boxwood which is pretty pricey, there's maple, cherry, pear, and other fruit woods. They have the tight grain we need and the hardness.
  18. You sir, are a master of understatement.
  19. True, but they were very maneuverable and with the engine spinning, they could turn really tight turns to the right. They did have their issues though
  20. I didn't notice the opening until it was pointed out to me. Thanks.
