  1. Hi JD, Welcome to MSW. It's great that they had the instructions available. There's no place to post them as MSW does not support the posting of copyrighted material. However, if you ever see someone asking for instructions to an AL kit, you can point them in the right direction.
  2. We do have a sponsor on your side of the pond who makes serving machines and ropewalks: https://shipworkshop.com/
  3. In looking at the photo, at the bottom of the picture, some of the deck is visible (not much). On second look, that may be the deck between the wheels... or he camera angle.
  4. The curse of local hobby shop strikes again... They do that here also. But we do have a HobbyLobby being built. As for your hull... looking pretty sweet.
  5. Are you related to General Jack D. Ripper? All this talk about vital fluid... Points to those who get the reference.
  6. Gerhard, I too send the best wishes for you and your family.
  7. I think Roger has the right idea and it makes sense. One question in my mind, is the camera angle deceiving our eyes? If we look at the bottom of the picture, the planking that can be seen looks... "different".
  8. I daresay that this build is the "gold" standard to strive for. I'm pretty much speechless.
  9. I'd go with the stained boxwood also, Al. Ebony needs a lot of steam or laminating several strips (bent before laminating) and holding them firmly in a jig until the adhesive drys. A bit of a pain and can be hit and miss. Looking pretty darn good as she sits now.
  10. That looks like a great idea. I'm thinking it would work better than the two nails in block of wood method.
  11. Looks really good, Carl. I like seeing the difference ways this kit can be done. Now we need to "push" Popeye and get the group photo.
  12. Thanks Downer. That's kind of the look I'm hoping for. I want to use it for some stern carving work, specifically the carvings just under the quarter galleries.
  13. Al, That's one of my references. I located the original plans (some but not all) but not the re-build plans. As built, Le Renommee would be close. Very ornate. So far, the only ones that exist are the NMM that I can find. I'll give my searching another few days and then go with what I think the carvings were.
  14. Thanks for the tipc, Chuck. I hope the others with a laser will also try it. One question though... how long does it take for the wood to "tone down" on the yellow. I read where you mentioned that it does, but don't recall a time frame.
  15. Very impressive work, Julie. The block looks fantastic.
  16. Goto the Main Page and scroll down to "Members Build Logs". You'll find all the build logs in those two topics that are shown. Go to either the kit or scratch forum depending on you model. Open a new topic (with your post) and people will find it. I hope this helps.
  17. Angel, You really should start a build log on your ship.
  18. Goodie!!! I've an area that needs a compound curve so I'm ordering. Needs to be carved abit so this should be fun.
