  1. Copyright in the States does allow for "fair use". The other thing is, Bug didn't put the image up at 100%. So, this may or may not fall under that. I'm asking a moderator/admin to take a look.
  2. Hal, Here's how to attach photos: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/540-how-to-add-pictures-in-your-posts-and-pms/ This forum area has answers to a lot questions on how to use and do things with the forum software, etc.: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/forum/47-questionsinstructions-on-how-to-use-and-post-to-this-forumsite-problems-or-suggestions/
  3. I think he's asking how to find centerline on a pre-carved hull from kit. As I've not done a solid hull, I have no clue.
  4. Hmm... good to see you're not lost wandering about in the Stone Frigate Navy, Dafi.
  5. Jeff retired from the premium lumber business. Crown Timberyard has taken over, in many ways, from Jeff. WoodProjectSource also has a variety of timbers. Have a look here... http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/384-where-to-buy-wood/ It lists these and other suppliers.
  6. OC, Find an old wind up alarm clock that does the tic-toc and wrap it in a small towel. Put that in the pup's bed. It helps.
  7. Now I see it... Maybe do in inlay in the center using wood strips for the star?
  8. Impressive to say the least, Patrick. I'm looking forward seeing this through.... No pressure.
  9. Sorry to hear about the trip cancelation, Dave. But maybe relief due to the bad weather.. we did one onetime where we were stuck the Detroit airport over Christmas due to bad weather. Our luggage made it to the destination but we didn't. We flew back home as soon as the weather broke. Lovely looking cannons and carriages. And yes, those parts on a CNC mill or laser cutter... But you've got them looking so good.
  10. It looks pretty thin then... Did you run over it with a chair? I've bent some #65's by stepping on them on carpet but then again, I'm a bit of a bull in a china shop.
  11. I've bent some HSS at times and other times they break, but I find the carbide always break. That one looks like it's been stepped on.
  12. I think I paid $10 US last time I ordered but I use the 3" blades. Just make sure you get the right sizes for your machine. You can't order on line but an email or a phone call works very well. Nice people and fast service.
  13. Very interesting and impressive build. What gets to me is the design. In some photos it has almost a Star Destroyer look... very futuristic.
  14. Gabe, I have the MicroLux saw with tilting arbor and all that... the older one, not the new one. Blade height is also not fixed. That could be part of the problem is too much blade above the wood... For blades, I used these: http://www.thurstonmfg.com/cut-off-saws.html I also use Jeff's tips: http://www.hobbymillusa.com/byrnes-saw-operation.php I can't answer the question about the glue. I've noticed that also that the wood isn't truly bonded but can be popped off. Maybe that's a good thing?
  15. Thanks again for the "likes" and comments. And also for the holiday wishes. Work is slowly progressing. It took several days to get my head wrapped around the next steps but they're now underway. Indeed Sam. I'm very fond of saying that also about what we do. But, it is fun and satisfying. "Feeling good, Louis!". Thanks David. I'm not sure either. It could be me as I'm clamping while the wood is wet so maybe that's the problem.
  16. It's great to hear that you and your now larger family are home and settled back in. May the holidays and new year bring you much joy.
  17. Best of wishes for the holidays and new year, Nenad. Office work can be overwhelming and block thoughts on other things. I'm not sure what you were asking about the "Star of India"... The carving looked good, I'm not sure what you meant though.
  18. Gabe, What kind of saw? Have you tried a slitting blade? Also, a thinner blade isn't always better. You get less of a kerf but there's more flex in the blade. Lovely work on the framing and an excellent deduction on the planks. I never thought of that before and I'm sure others havent' either.
