  1. By "springy", do you mean the planks are popping off or coming loose? I'm suspecting humidity also as this will cause the wood to expand and contract and different woods have different rates. When you glue, are speading the glue on the plank? Putting glue on both planks? Clamping?
  2. Lextin, She's come a long way since those early pictures. Looking great and I, for one, can't wait for pictures of her in the water and sailing.
  3. Just amazing and fantastic as always. Art and craftsmanship at the highest level.
  4. Richard, I have the Dremel chuck also and it runs true. If you have a Lowe's nearby, they carry Dremel products and might carry the chuck. Otherwise, Google is your friend.
  5. Andy, I have book and I forget where I bought it (possibly Lowe's)... Big Book of Scroll Saw Woodworking from Fox Chapel Publishing. It's supposed to be the "best" from Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts Magazine. ISBN 978-1-56523-426-0, I've found it very helpful and I continue to reference it.
  6. Hamilton, I agree with Alistair. We are our own worst critics.
  7. Fantastic pinnace, sir. Just fantastic. As for sanity... here's the test I use: I ask the Unicorn and some Gummy Bears. To date, they have all agreed that I'm sane.
  8. <--- That's the closest thing we have to a crying smiley. or... save this one ---> and use add you would a picture. I feel your pain on this. We had a broken water line to the house and then dig the hole to find the leak, fix the pipe, re-fill the hole with dirt. Took a only a couple of days but when there's no water, you really miss it.
  9. I use a discarded curling iron that the Admiral no longer needed. I clamp it into a vise and freehand, can do many complex shapes.. a few are even repeatable.
  10. Give it time, sir.... give it time..
  11. Thanks Richard. I would hope that MM and Sherline are using some sort of standard and not proprietary threads. I've seen this used in some of the scratch logs but never gave it a thought for the mini-mill.
  12. Richard, Do those use the taper or the chuck? Looks like a great idea.
  13. I thought the Sherline had that drill feature??? I know a heckuva lot of the mini-mills (not the one we have) have them.
  14. Hi Denis, I hope you don't mind my pulling up a chair. I'll be tagging along on this journey.
  15. Walt, Take care of Linda and also don't forget your health. The build and those of us watching will wait.
  16. Ben, Just post a link to the video. That works for us.
  17. Richard, It's a friction fit on that. You might try removing the cap screw, washer, and the handwheel. Apply some white grease and reassemble. Take a look at the parts breakdown in the back of what they laughingly call a manual. BTW, if after a period of time, the head starts dropping on it's own while milling, parts 31 and 32 are the gib screw adjustment.
  18. Well done on the bricks and great tutorial for doing those. I can't wait to see how your checkerboard deck will turn out. Probably somewhere between great and fantastic?
  19. Jason, You might try Tower Hobbies for line. They used to have it in stock but the way things have been lately with many of manufacturers, maybe not. Otherwise, try using the Amati line of ropes. The last alternative is for some positively stunning rope and that Syren Model Ship Company http://www.syrenshipmodelcompany.com/. which is probably the best rope you'll ever find.
  20. Ah.. the Darkside no longer beckons. Sjors will soon join us... bwahahahaha....
