Grant, A case that will do her and you justice. From the pictures it looks great and I can only imagine what it looks like in person. As for the Viking funeral..... errr.... nah. I'm with Augie and we'll have none of that. Yes, you're being double-teamed.

Looks good from here, but I'm a couple thousand miles away not 8 feet... :D Seriously.. I'm seeing some very well done work there.

Not a mistake, Daniel. I'm doing a capsized frigate that was caught in the Great Hurricane of 1780. :D

Ok.. now you are messing with our minds, right? The bottom two are actually a real ship???? It does look that good and points out that you are a master.

Piet, I'm always amazed and inspired when I visit your log. My jaw dropped when I saw the finished mines.

Uh-oh.. a teeny-tiny banana peel and musical accompaniment. As Chuckles the Clown used to say: "A little song, a little dance. A little seltzer in your pants." I think Popeye is dead-on... no rigols, no port lids and no lanyards. Or there's something to do with the gentleman fiddling with the cannon. The mystery deepens.

Hopefully you'll have a good trip, Ben. Will you be taking any small parts to fiddle with when not working? I had to ask.. I've done it myself.

Anyone have this rigging line? AL8806
mtaylor replied to Jetwrench's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
The only place that sells AL parts/line/fittings that I'm aware of is Tower Hobbies. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0093p?&C=BJA for the models and http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0093p?&C=BJZ for the parts, etc. They also carry the Constructo hardware/fittings, etc. -
The Swan class? Seawatch Books. Look for the "The Fully-Framed Model, HMN Swan Class Sloops" by David Antscherl. There's 4 books on how to build one from scratch. Theres's also a number of builds in the kit area for Pegasus and Fly and in the scratch area for Pegasus, Vulture, and Atalanta.

mtaylor replied to Jetwrench's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
Azzoun, There's 3 kits and one scratch. My build is a bash into the 1854 Sloop of War and the scratch is the same (only much better and RC). The other two are: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/6261-uss-constellation-by-jlheureux-al-185 and http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/6671-us-constellation-by-johnny-v-al-bashed-scale-185-1798-2nd-real-wooden-ship-build -

John, Do two things... PM me your mailing addy and I'll ship you all the AL line from the kit. I was cleaning the shop and about to throw it out.. so I can ship it on Monday. I used Amati and others for my Constellation. Second.. how about opening a build log. Lots of people have built this kit but there's next to nothing for logs.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
