Hi folks A quick update for you all - Shadow's interior accommodation continues to grow, albeit slowly. So far, I've been concentrating on building the layout of all the cabins located within the Bilge, Lower and Main decks. Getting these in the correct locations is vital, otherwise, the various staircases connecting the decks would be askew. Trust me, that would not be a good look! Oh well, there's still heaps of fun to go. Have a great week, everyone! Cheers Patrick

Hi Nils Once again, I'm totally blown away with what you've been able to achieve. The work is so finely detailed, yet perfectly in-scale. Just amazing! What's even more surprising is the photo with your giant fingers in the way. Just that photo alone, emphasises how small the individual parts are. Amazing! Cheers Patrick

Hi Frank Very nice. Slowly but surely, the hull's taking shape. Methodical and precise as usual. All the best. Cheers Patrick

Hi Rick It looks like you're off and running! The assembled frames and keel look good. My only comment would be why you chose MDF, instead of plywood. However I don't think it matters as long as you're not actually sailing the model. Anyhow, I'm hooked and will be happily following along in the front row! Cheers Patrick

Hi Denis She's come a long way, Denis. The hatches, waterways and decking are looking great and they'll no doubt, add heaps of atmosphere to the ship. Nicely done! Cheers Patrick

Hi Warhonour Off to a nice start! I see you've also started on the frames as well. It won't be long before you have a fully framed hull to sit back and admire! Top job. Cheers Patrick -
Hi Elijah For some strange reason, I've lost track of your wonderful build log...and that's saddened me. My apologies! On a far brighter note; my word, what a top job you've done on your ship. She's got heaps of character and heaps of charm, all combined with a large dollop of 'wow'. I'm really pleased to see the final result and I'm looking forward to following your next little beauty. All the best! Patrick

Hey Bill You're back!!! Good to see you posting again and giving us an update on your rigging and masting. Your commitment to getting things right will pay off with huge dividends. Nice job on the sheaves, also! Cheers Patrick -
Well done, Carl! You've done a great job. SIB's aren't easy at the best of times, but you've proven that you're up for the challenge. It's always a very satisfying feeling to sit back and enjoy your handiwork; yours is no exception. Cheers Patrick

Hi Tozbleker I've always been curious, but I've never asked until now. Are you a professional modeller, by any chance? The reason I'm asking is that your workmanship and the speed at which you work is out of this world. Love your work! Cheers Patrick

Hi Denis I didn't realise that the Likes system had changed either, but like you, I also value the comments, advice, friendship and recognition that comes with participating actively on MSW. On on another note, after catching up with the last few days of your posts, I'm nicely impressed with how your little beauty's going. Top job! Cheers Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
